Job description

The Marketing Intern will support the Marketing team at a Caterpillar equipment dealership by assisting with a wide range of marketing, communications, and brand initiatives. This role provides hands-on experience in B2B marketing within the construction and heavy equipment industry, while offering exposure to digital marketing, events, branding, data analysis, and internal communications. The ideal candidate is organized, curious, and eager to learn how marketing supports sales, customer relationships, and dealership operations across multiple locations.

Key Responsibilities 

Marketing & Communications Support

  • Assist with the creation and coordination of marketing materials including flyers, email campaigns, social media posts, presentations, and internal communications
  • Support content development for website updates, blog posts, customer stories, and promotional campaigns
  • Help ensure marketing materials align with Caterpillar brand standards and dealership guidelines Digital & Social Media
  • Assist in scheduling and monitoring social media content across dealership channels
  • Help track engagement metrics and compile basic performance reports
  • Support ongoing digital marketing initiatives including email marketing, paid media, and website optimization
  • Support with Digital Local Listings review and updates (Google Business Profile, Apple Maps, Yelp, Bing, etc)

Events & Promotions

  • Assist with planning and execution of customer events, trade shows, open houses, employee engagement activities, and community events
  • Coordinate logistics such as signage, promotional items, customer invitations, and follow-up communications Data & Reporting
  • Help gather and organize marketing data related to campaigns, customer engagement, and lead activity
  • Assist in preparing reports and dashboards for internal stakeholders Administrative & Team Support
  • Maintain marketing project files, contact lists, and asset libraries
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including Sales, Product Support, Safety, HR, and Operations
  • Perform other marketing-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Graphic Design, or a related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital marketing tools
  • Experience with basic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Interest in B2B marketing, construction, equipment, or industrial industries
  • Previous internship, campus leadership, or relevant coursework
