This position, is a full-time teaching position for the 2026-2027 school year, for the Phoenix Academy at KEC. This academy is Dekalb County's alternative school as a part of Kishwaukee Education Consortium in Malta. Classes for this teacher will include Math content, Pre-Algebra, Algebra and Geometry.
The school day is from 8:10 to 2:30 (3:15 on Wednesdays) with student's end of day at 2:15. Each class has a maximum of 15 students, and teachers have six classes, over a seven class period day, plus a lunch period.
The starting salary is $43,325 for a certified staff member. Consideration for increases will be based on years of experience and advanced degrees. Other benefits are available as well.
KEC's Phoenix Academy, has many support elements within our program. KEC serves students who have truancy and work completion difficulties (credit recovery), as well as students who have had multiple disciplinary events. Over the last 10 years, KEC has had success rate of almost 93%, due to the committment of the teaching staff, and the home schools sending students to KEC who are best fit for this program.
