Job description

MATHEMATICS ACADEMIC TEACHER
The Mathematics Academic Support Teacher willย work with elementary school mathematics instruction by directlyย assisting those demonstrating a need for additional support.ย Support will be provided through classroom assistance and data assessment.ย ย 
Function:ย 
Under direction, performs specific and specialized academic services that support the Math curriculum and improve student achievement.
Qualifications:






  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Holds a valid New Jersey Certificate (1900) as a Teacher of Mathematics: K-12, or Middle School Subject Matter Specialization: Mathematics in Grades 5-8 (1102); this certificate requires a co-teaching certificate).
  • New Jersey Elementary Teacher Certification (1001) is preferred as well.
  • Five (5) years' of classroom experience.
  • Have an understanding of elementary school-ageย students.
  • Familiarity with, or willing to learn, the Eureka Math program.
  • Ability to utilize instructional technology and data-driven instruction.
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative setting.
  • Required criminal history background check, physical, and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.ย  (CURRENT EMPLOYEES EXEMPT)

Performance of Duties:

  • Support students directly by assisting those demonstrating a need for additional support.
  • Support teachers by providing classroom assistance (co-teaching or modeling lessons) to mathematics teachers and individual (or team) coaching as needed.
  • Assist the Supervisor of Instruction in Mathematics with certain administrative tasks relating to elementary school mathematics instruction such as data collection, analysis, and academic interventions.
  • Assist in the distribution of materials and information to elementary school teachers.
  • Assists with integrating instruction and curricula between elementary grade levels and middle school grade levels.
  • Assists teachers in organizing classrooms for effective learning.
  • Assists in the orientation, induction, and training of new teachers.
  • Performs other related tasks as required by the Director of Curriculum or designee.
