The Instructional Assistant also assists students in identifying appropriate academic pathways.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, front-line services to students
- Assist students in navigating the ALEKS math placement process
- Use available resources to provide individualized guidance and support in various areas, including academic goal setting, targeted remediation, study skills, and anxieties related to math
- Identify students who are experiencing delays or difficulties in the math placement process, ensuring these difficulties do not become barriers or create delays in students' academic progress
- Reach out to students who have started the placement process but need a little nudge to complete it
- Offer guidance regarding Math Power Boost and academic support for students who do not assess into a math course
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders about ALEKS-related technical issues
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of (4) years of experience in tutoring or teaching mathematics at or above the developmental level
- Skilled in using computers and technology relevant to assisting and supporting students in a computer classroom or to preparing reports or other written materials.
- Familiarity with instructional technology and educational materials in mathematics
- Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
Education:
- BS in Mathematics, Math Education, or related field
