Job description

Position Overview

Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm 

A Materials Clerk assists the efficiency and effectiveness of The Blood Connection by assuring the supplies (materials) are kept in stock for distribution to all departments and sites. This role delivers supplies to other departments and sites in a timely and efficient manner. This role helps keep the warehouse well stocked, clean, and correctly labeled.

Essential Functions

  • Understands and supports the quality goals of the company
    • In purchase order preparation and submission for routine items
    • In organization and filing of materials management documents – critical goods information, vendor qualification information, supporting documents for purchase orders
    • In purchase of materials and supplies from suppliers
    • Based on requests from departments, issues supply to departments
    • Identifies stock replenishment needs at central warehouse
  • Stocks shelves with incoming supplies; for supplies with expiration dates, uses first in, first out (FIFO) system to assure oldest dated items are used first
  • Receives supplies, removes, and checks packing slip for accuracy
  • Electronically receives all goods in Inventory Management Module
  • Checks for damaged items and refuses any unacceptable items; works with vendor to secure credits/returns
  • Labels received goods for QA quarantine; moves received goods to QA quarantine location; notifies Quality Assurance Department of receipt of goods
  • Adheres to all safety policies and procedures
  • Helps maintain cleanliness, order, and discipline within the company
  • Other duties as assigned or required

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Job related experience preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License with no major infractions and dependable transportation
  • Understands and follows written and verbal instructions
  • Able to follow SOP in a heavily FDA regulated environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively, tactfully, and courteously to patrons, donors, sponsors, and co-workers
  • Ability to work with all levels and in a diverse work environment 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, and peers
