About the role:

WEG is hiring a Process Engineer for our Duluth location. You will review production schedules, routings, workflows, and process specifications to support manufacturing operations and identify opportunities for improved efficiency. Assist in designing, analyzing, and implementing manufacturing processes that improve productivity, quality, and safety while reducing waste. Support continuous improvement initiatives and help develop systems that optimize the use of labor, materials, equipment, information, and energy.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering principles to optimize workflows, eliminate waste, and improve process efficiency.
  • Conduct time studies, performance analysis, and KPI tracking to identify improvement opportunities and monitor results.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing process issues related to labor efficiency, quality, safety, and ergonomics.
  • Develop, update, and maintain manufacturing procedures, work instructions, and process documentation.
  • Design, support, and implement improvements in process flow, equipment layout, and facility arrangements.
  • Prepare reports, metrics, and presentations to communicate process status, findings, and improvement proposals to management.
  • Communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams (operations, maintenance, engineering, and quality) to support production and implement improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, supporting audits and operational requirements.
  • Support and coordinate continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S activities and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Research and contribute to the development of new or improved manufacturing processes and technologies.
  • Provide clear work instructions and support successful implementation of process changes on the shop floor.
  • Support additional departmental and operational needs as required.

Education:

  • Engineering degree or equivalent related work experience.

Knowledge/Training

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to identify root causes and implement solutions.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to influence and drive changes in processes and practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles (Kaizen, 5S, waste reduction).
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with Power BI is preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar design software is preferred.
  • Adaptable and comfortable working across different technical areas.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams (technical and non-technical).
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations in a manufacturing environment.
  • Manufacturing experience (assembly or industrial environment) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools or data-driven technologies to support process improvement and decision-making is a plus.
