Job description

SUMMARY OF POSITION
Results-driven Process Engineer specializing in PLEX ERP configuration, process optimization, and continuous improvement. Responsible for maintaining accurate ERP master data, developing routing and production documentation, and ensuring system alignment with real world manufacturing operations. Experienced in evaluating and improving assembly processes through data analysis, time studies, and Lean principles to enhance flow, efficiency, and quality. Collaborates cross functionally to support new product launches, resolve process issues, and drive sustainable operational improvements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Includes, but may not be limited to the following: other duties may be assigned based on departmental needs and company goals:
PLEX ERP Setup & Data Integrity
  • Build and maintain item master data, part numbers, BOMs, routings, labor standards, and machine assignments within the PLEX ERP system.
  • Ensure PLEX configurations accurately reflect real world production processes and support seamless material and information flow.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve PLEX setup issues to maintain system reliability and data accuracy.

Process Evaluation & Analysis
  • Evaluate existing manufacturing and assembly processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities to improve flow, throughput, ergonomics, and quality.
  • Gather production data, such as cycle times, downtime, scrap, and work sequence steps, to support process analysis.
  • Conduct time, motion, and spatial studies to validate process changes and improvement opportunities.
  • Prepare reports summarizing findings, trends, and recommendations for review by leadership.

Layout & Workflow Design
  • Design and revise workstation and process layouts, material flow paths, and plantwide configurations using Lean and ergonomic principles.

Documentation & Process Definition
  • Create, update, and maintain SOPs, work instructions, setup sheets, checklists, visual aids, and process related prints and layouts.
  • Support new product launches by preparing routing, documentation, and initial process parameters.

Continuous Improvement & Cross Functional Support
  • Conduct root cause analysis for process related issues and participate in cross functional problem-solving efforts.
  • Train and support operators and leads on new documentation, layout changes, and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Tooling teams to support ongoing improvement and maintain process stability.

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, supplemented by 5 or more years of experience in process engineering, manufacturing, production, or continuous improvement environments.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods of time. Employees must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, reach overhead, lift, and/or move up to 50 pounds. Tasks require manual dexterity, hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate the computer keyboard and other office equipment. In addition to visual and hearing acuity, as well as identifying and distinguishing colors.

ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • This role involves working both on the shop floor and in the office within a high-volume manufacturing facility. While performing duties in designated production areas, the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required to ensure safety and compliance with workplace regulations. Additionally, the position may require occasional travel, typically less than 10% of the time.
