Road Logistics Operations Supervisor

As a member of the Freight Forwarding team Kuehne+Nagel, you will play a key role in transporting goods, optimising processes, and fulfilling our customers' promises. As Road Logistics Operations Supervisor you will coordinate the safe and efficient movement of materials and finished goods, overseeing daily logistics activities like shipping, receiving, and inventory management and also include supervising logistics staff, tracking performance against KPIs, negotiating with carriers, managing warehouse operations, and resolving operational issues to meet timeliness, accuracy, and cost targets
How you create impact
  • Interact with employees and carriers to reinforce business solutions. This includes carrier management
  • Develop processes that may be automated and will enhance daily Road Logistics Department performance.
  • Assist in the establishment of customer service standards for all accounts, communicating these standards to all personnel.
  • Develop, maintain, and publish appropriate measures of productivity, workflow, performance, and financial contribution on a scheduled basis.
  • Supervise the movement of incoming and outgoing shipments to ensure efficient resource utilization and the attainment of customer service goals.
  • Monitor and evaluate carrier performance metrics.
  • Assist in the development, documentation, and maintenance of Division Standard Operating Procedures and they relate to the Road Logistics Department.
  • Recommend any appropriate changes in mode and/or carrier and perform rate - service analysis in conformance with customer expectations.
  • Investigate shipment pickup and delivery exceptions, collating data requisite to the filing of claims, and monitor the process in accordance with governing regulations and industry precedents.

What we would like you to bring
  • Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Transportation, or Business preferred
  • 5+years of experience in similar role in transportation industry encompassing parcel, LTL and truckload modes.
  • Exposure to carrier price and contract negotiations.
  • Knowledge of cargo claims rules and practices.
  • Proven experience in customer service
  • Strong pricing and analytical skills.
