CLINICAL INFORMATICS ANALYST

(MULTIPLE VACANCIES)

Wellington Health Care Alliance (WHCA) is seeking 2 Clinical Informatics Analysts to support the organization's planning and implementation of a modern Health Information System (HIS).


These temporary, project-based roles will work closely with the Clinical Informatics Specialist (Clinical Informatics Lead) and will play a key role in ensuring clinical workflows, data, and system design align with front-line practice across WHCA.


This is a significant opportunity to contribute to WHCA's HIS transformation while building experience in clinical informatics and digital health.


Position Summary:

Reporting to the VP Infrastructure, Diagnostics and CIO, Clinical Informatics Analysts will support clinical workflow design, system validation, testing, and training activities as part of the HIS implementation.


These roles are structured to provide domain-specific support (e.g., nursing, lab, diagnostic imaging, pharmacy, ED, OR), including workflow analysis, data validation, testing, and training support.

SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Clinical Workflow & System Design

  • Participate in current-state and future-state workflow analysis
  • Support validation of order sets, documentation, and clinical workflows
  • Ensure alignment between clinical practice and HIS configuration


Data & System Validation

  • Assist with data mapping, collection, and validation activities
  • Support accuracy and consistency of clinical content


Testing & Implementation

  • Participate in system and user acceptance testing
  • Support issue identification, tracking, and resolution


Training & GoLive Support

  • Assist with development of training materials
  • Provide support during end-user training and go-live readiness
  • Participate in at-the-elbow support during implementation


Collaboration

  • Act as a liaison between clinical teams and the project team
  • Engage front-line staff to ensure solutions reflect real-world practice

Informatics Development & System Coverage

As part of this role, selected candidates will also:

  • Develop knowledge of WHCA's existing clinical information systems (e.g., Meditech and related systems)
  • Build clinical informatics competencies in system design, workflow optimization, and digital tools
  • Provide operational support and coverage for informatics-related activities as needed
  • Contribute to building internal informatics capacity and sustainability beyond the HIS project

This component is intended to strengthen WHCA's long-term clinical informatics capability while supporting current-state operations during the transition.
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Regulated health professional or equivalent clinical experience
  • Strong understanding of hospital workflows
  • Interest in clinical informatics, digital transformation, or clinical systems
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills

ASSETS:

  • Experience with Meditech or other HIS platforms
  • Previous involvement in quality improvement or workflow redesign initiatives
  • Formal education in Clinical / Health Informatics

HOURS OF WORK:Varies. Estimated starting point of 2-5 hours per week, up to 37.5 hours per week at project peak.


Travel may be required to our sites at Groves Memorial Community Hospital, Palmerston & District Hospital and Louise Marshall Hospital, so a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle is required.
