Job description

Material Handler III - Logistics

Our Logistics team is looking for a Material Handler to help support our Space Systems Business. Help design and deliver solutions for civil and commercial space agencies for use on Earth, near space and deep space. Leveraging our expertise in radio frequency systems, antenna design, synthetic aperture radar processing, radiation hardened electronics, and mapping software, we enable our customers to command, control and communicate with spacecraft, and ensure electronics survive the radiation and temperature extremes of deep space. Material Handler III - Logistics. Load / unload truck with pallet jack, handle material, move material across the campus using powered equipment, sort packages, packages finished goods, perform electronic transactions, ensure inventory accuracy, and communicate with other groups.

Responsibilities:

  • Unload inbound shipments - Operate dock equipment (dock leveler, pallet jack, forklift, hand truck) to remove pallets, crates, or bulk loads from trucks, containers, or railcars. Ability lift up to 50 lbs
  • Verify shipment contents - Compare packing slips / bill of lading (BOL) to purchase orders (PO) and physical units; scan barcodes/RFID; note quantity, part numbers, and condition.
  • Document discrepancies - Create damage reports, shortage reports, or surplus notices; notify the purchasing/supplier liaison and file paperwork in the ERP/WMS.
  • Perform initial quality check - Visually inspect for obvious damage, confirm temperature control for perishables, and apply any required quarantine tags.
  • Enter receiving data - Input receipt dates, quantities, lot/serial numbers, and location codes into the ERP; generate receiving receipts.
  • Organize put‑away coordination - Communicate with the warehouse team or material handlers to assign storage locations; may generate put‑away tickets or print location labels.
  • Maintain receiving area - Keep dock doors, staging zones, and equipment clean and organized; ensure safety signage and PPE are in place.
  • Pick and stage outbound orders - Retrieve items from storage based on pick tickets or wave releases; verify part numbers and quantities; bring to the shipping dock.
  • Prepare shipments for carrier - Consolidate items on pallets or in cartons, apply correct packaging (wrap, void fill, stretch film), affix labels (shipping label, handling instructions,).
  • Generate shipping documents - Print and attach BOL, export documents, customs paperwork (if international), carrier bills of lading, packing lists, and any required compliance certificates.
  • Record shipment details - Enter ship date, carrier, tracking numbers, freight charges, and any special instructions into the ERP/WMS. Computer proficiency to perform data entry, customer web-based interface programs, product status updates, and time entry into computer system.
  • Ability to read and fully comprehend written instructions in English, following work instructions unless written permission from an authorized employee is given to deviate from these requirements.
  • Coordinate with carriers - Schedule pickups, respond to carrier inquiries, manage carrier dock appointments, and resolve any freight or paperwork issues.
  • Follow safety protocols - Use PPE, obey lock‑out/tag‑out (LOTO), adhere to forklift safety rules, report spills or unsafe conditions promptly.
  • Assist in audit preparation - Gather and organize shipping/receiving logs, carrier contracts, and compliance certificates for internal or external audits.
  • Inventory Control - Perform cycle counts, full physical inventories, and daily slot checks, Reconcile system counts with physical stock, investigate variances.
  • Order Fulfillment / Picking - Retrieve items for internal work orders or outbound shipments, Use pick‑lists, RF scanners, or voice‑directed picking systems, Pack, label, and prepare shipments (palletizing, shrink‑wrapping, palletizing).
  • Obtains maintains required certifications, which includes hands-on training, written test(s), work sample review and visual examination.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn electro-static discharge rules for manufacturing or material handling.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Typically a High School Diploma and 2 years work experience or equivalent experience

  • 3 years of materials experience

Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $48438 - $77500 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
