Job description

Material Handler

Amerhart is currently hiring for Material Handlers in our West Salem - Amerhart facility. The primary responsibility of this position is to perform all duties associated with shipping, receiving, and stocking warehouse material. As a member of the Operations team, offering to help others when the workload demands, treating teammates with respect and care and performing work in a safe manner according to safety policies and procedures is critical. 1st Shift hours are from 7:30am CST till work is finished for the day. Pay Rate is $22/hour + Benefits after 30 days of employment.

Essential Functions:

  • Unload common carrier trucks and railroad cars and replenish product in the designated location in the warehouse.
  • Pick orders using a forklift until the order is completely filled.
  • Report any problems such as shortages or damaged material, etc.
  • Inquire with sales team member when orders cannot be shipped as ordered and make changes as directed by sales.
  • Use handheld scanner when receiving product, picking orders, loading trucks and cycle counting in accordance with Warehouse Management System (WMS) processes.
  • Collaborate with Warehouse Management System (WMS) Coordinator on questions and updates.
  • Band, wrap and prepare material for safe shipping.
  • Arrange orders on trucks according to safe weight distribution practices.
  • Follow safety procedures and policies when performing warehouse duties.
  • Performance of Miscellaneous Functions:
    • Fill orders for incoming customers.
    • Perform routine maintenance work such as cleaning warehouses/yard.
    • Inspect the forklift prior to daily operation to avoid equipment problems and malfunctions in accordance with OSHA regulations.
    • Cross train and back-up others in warehouse.

  • Proven ability to work as a member of a team.
