[About the Role]
Join a leading engineering team in Santa Rosa, CA as a Materials Engineer specializing in thin film coating design and advanced materials processes. Collaborate with diverse teams and renowned customers to solve complex technical challenges while advancing your career in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.
[Responsibilities]
- Design and develop new thin film coating solutions tailored to dynamic customer applications.
- Analyze in-process metrology data to optimize and adjust production processes for quality assurance.
- Engage in technical problem-solving, consistently applying creativity to overcome complex challenges.
- Partner with Program Management to develop project plans, budgets, and schedules that drive success.
- Provide clear work instructions and mentorship to early-career engineers and production technicians.
- Support operations with hands-on equipment setup, calibration, and oversight through all production stages.
- Present technical content and findings to customers, fostering collaborative design and solution discussions.
- Ensure all product specifications and customer requirements are met through thorough documentation review.
[Required Skills and Experience]
- Minimum 5 years' experience in thin film coating design and materials engineering.
- Deep understanding of sputtered thin films, deposition processes, and relevant equipment.
- Proficiency in thin film design software such as TFCalc, OptiLayer, FilmStar, or FilmWizard.
- Solid background in statistical methods and design of experiments.
- Strong communication skills with a proven ability to document and present technical information.
- Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency.
[Preferred Skills]
- Hands-on roll to roll deposition or converting experience.
- Skilled in programming, Visual Basic Macro Scripting, or similar analysis tools.
- Experience with Optical Spectrometer, SEM, and XRF measurements and data interpretation.
- Project leadership and customer-facing presentation expertise.
