Job description

Position Summary
Zeeco is seeking an experienced Senior Welding & Materials Engineer to serve as a Technical Manager responsible for global oversight of welding engineering and materials performance across all Zeeco product lines and fabrication locations. This position will act as the subject matter expert (SME) for welding processes, metallurgy, and material integrity, providing leadership and technical direction to ensure compliance with applicable codes, customer specifications, and Zeeco quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Oversight
- Serve as the company-wide authority on welding and material engineering.
- Oversee all welding-related technical matters and provide global fabrication support.
- Lead resolution of complex welding, metallurgical, and failure analysis issues.
- Provide technical review and approval of welding procedures, qualifications, and repair methodologies.
Welding Engineering
- Develop, review, and approve WPS, PQR, and welder qualifications.
- Establish best practices for weld joint design, heat input control, and distortion mitigation.
- Ensure compliance with ASME, AWS, API codes and standards.
Materials & Metallurgy
- Provide expertise in material selection, corrosion resistance, and high-temperature applications.
- Lead metallurgical evaluations and failure investigations.
- Support traceability and compliance with material specifications.
Quality & Compliance Integration
- Investigate nonconformities and lead root cause analysis.
- Develop corrective actions related to welding and materials.
- Support audits and ensure compliance with quality systems.
Vendor & Global Operations Support
- Provide technical support to global fabrication teams and vendors.
- Travel globally to support fabrication and resolve technical issues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Materials, Welding, Metallurgical, or Mechanical Engineering.
- 8-12 years of experience in welding and materials engineering.
- Strong knowledge of ASME, ASTM, and AWS standards.
- Experience in failure analysis and root cause investigations.
- Preferred: Certified Welding Engineer (CWE) or PE license.
