Wieland is hiring a Quality Engineer. The Quality Engineer serves as the primary point of contact for internal quality matters related to the technical tube product line. This role is responsible for leading thorough investigations into both internal and external quality issues, driving root cause analysis, and ensuring the effective implementation of corrective actions. Quality Engineer has the authority to define quality standards, approve corrective actions, and escalate quality risks when necessary. This role also leads and supports continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring successful execution of assigned projects. The Quality Engineer will work cross-functionally with Production and Process Engineering, the Quality Engineer helps ensure customer satisfaction and compliance with ISO standards, including active participation in annual internal audits across all relevant processes. Additionally, this position plays a key role in collaborating with Process Engineering on new supplier qualification activities. This role is located in Wheeling, IL and will be fully on-site.
Base Salary Range: $89,000 - $97,000
May be eligible for a variable compensation plan bonus based upon company performance within fiscal year cycle.

Responsibilities
Quality Engineer Responsibilities:
  • Actively supports the department by sustaining current processes while seeking opportunities for continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (SOPs, Work Instructions, Process Maps and Quality records) by thorough, and consistent review.
  • Responsible for handling supplier claims and supporting customer claims. Investigates and/or supervises the determination of root cause analysis, implementation of corrective actions, and provides feedback to Suppliers, Production, and the Quality Manager as needed.
  • Responsible for all Quality related topics and corresponding documentation to and from suppliers such as PPAPs, 8D reports, Deviations and supplier requests.
  • Supports sustainability of ISO 9001 and 14001 certifications by participating in yearly Internal Audits to all identified processes.
  • Responsible for SPC, process capability, Pareto analysis, and data trending to identify quality risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Supports process design, risk assessment, and supplier development.
  • Provides timely reports to Management on designated Quality KPIs.

Quality Engineer Qualifications:
  • BS in Material Science or Engineering and/or equivalent comprehensive experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Quality Engineer or similar role.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001.
  • Experience in QA tools such as PPAP, Process FMEA, Control Plan, Risk Assessment, Internal Audits, and Gauge Management and Calibration.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) and/or Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.
  • Ability to travel to suppliers and other company locations as needed.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and extensive knowledge of LEAN tools and techniques for improvement.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Proficient in SAP, Factory Suite, data entry, daily/monthly reports, and MS Office is required.
