Description
Materials Planner responsibilities including new part parameter setup, bill of materials, creating program releases and analysis that drive supplier release accuracy. To arrange delivery for all raw material to satisfy production schedules while maintaining targeted inventory levels and freight objectives. Material Planner is expected to inspire and lead their teams by setting the example and driving the 5 C's (Care, Commit, Connect, Communicate, & Celebrate)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Import and update customer releases daily.
  • New part scheduling parameter setups in ERP system.
  • Ensure FG inventory accuracy.
  • Creates and maintains all production BOM's in ERP system.
  • Coordinates BOM reviews with Program Engineering for accuracy validation.
  • Analyzes customer schedules for mix/volume fluctuation. Identify capacity or lead time violations in releases by creating weekly diamond charts to proactively flag potential issues.
  • Complete and submit customer required documentation (MMOG, Packaging Data, No Surprise, Contacts).
  • Manage assigned parts and their respective suppliers, including problem resolution.
  • Analyze MRP weekly or daily and produce supplier releases for repetitive production material.
  • Coordinate expedites of production material from suppliers as needed in support of established production requirements.
  • Ensure receiving data input based on daily activity.
  • Coordinate engineering changes and build schedules with suppliers and production. such that customer expectations are met while minimalizing obsolescence exposure.
  • Identify potential inventory discrepancies and work closely with the Inventory.
  • Analyze to ensure appropriate counter measure is applied.
  • Communicate all supply discrepancies to suppliers and appropriate material personnel.
  • Documenting such activities on the vendor score card.
  • Assist in all inventory activities.
  • Minimize the cost of freight for assigned suppliers.
  • Track and coordinate returnable dunnage to all assigned suppliers.
  • Track and monitor consigned inventory and enter receipts into customer system.
  • Customer contact responsible for managing delivery issues 24 hours/day.
  • Creates shipping documentation and ASN creation for customer shipments.
  • Daily scrap entry into ERP system.
  • Prepare all customs blank documentation for in/out bound shipments by company trades compliance and customer requirements.
  • Responsible for meeting department defined monthly KOI targets.
  • Strong inventory discrepancy problem solving skills.
  • Work collaboratively with all departments.
  • Displays a positive attitude towards safety, works safely and follows all the Company's safety policies and procedures.
  • Reports all unsafe and unhealthy conditions or acts to management immediately.
  • Reports injuries, accidents, illnesses, near misses and property damage immediately to your supervisor.
  • Complying with all Health, Safety and Environmental standards in accordance with company policies, the Occupational Health & Safety Act. and the Michigan Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Ensures all employees and visitors have a safe environment in that safety and housekeeping standards are maintained; and all hazards, unsafe actions, or unsafe conditions have been identified, corrected, and/or eliminated.
  • Responds to and investigates all reports of injuries, accidents, illnesses, near misses and property damage immediately.
  • Report on all issues that cause any downtime to operations to the Department Manager.
  • Work collaboratively with Manufacturing Engineers, Controls Engineers, Maintenance Technicians, Production Supervisors and other internal staff.
  • Takes an active part in the division's safety program by performing regular workplace inspections, effectively investigates accidents/incidents promptly, and assists in meeting or exceeding the division's safety goals.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate Degree in Business or Supply Chain.

EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of three (3) years of materials scheduling or planning experience in a manufacturing facility.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
Work performed in an office and manufacturing plant environments. Average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer. Frequently exposed to varying temperature within plant depending upon external weather conditions. Frequently exposed to dust, odors, fumes and noise. Frequently walks, stands, grips/grasps, bends/stoops, crouches; and lifts and carries up to twenty-five (25) lbs. within the manufacturing plant environment. Must be available to work overtime including weekends and holidays.
