Job description

Warehouse Material Handler

The Waterfront Rescue Mission is hiring positive, highly productive, safety-minded and team-oriented associates to join our team at the Waterfront Thrift Store in Pensacola, FL! We have a position open for a Warehouse Material Handler in our warehouse. This is a full-time position working up to 40 hours per week receiving donations at the intake area. This position will also remove waste/recycled items and may process recyclables according to Waterfront Rescue Mission guidelines.

Job Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and Experience: Ability to read and write and up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a valid Florida driver's license or valid photo identification card and be insurable by the WRM's insurance carrier if driving is an essential function of the position. Must be able to make adjustments to timing (speed of handling) and placement of donations as the volume and frequency of donations change throughout the day.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service while assisting customers and donors
  • Genuine customer greeting with eye contact
  • Accepts donations according to WRM guidelines
  • Assists with loading or unloading
  • Sort hard lines and soft lines donations into labeled Gaylord
  • Unload truck contents and place in designated area
  • Load designated shipments onto RDC trucks
  • Process recyclables
  • Empty trash containers
  • Dispose of unsaleable donations according to recycling guide
  • Practice all safety standards and procedures as outlined by WRM
  • Practice safe lifting techniques
  • Use proper tools for lifting merchandise
  • Avoid tripping hazards by keeping area clutter free
  • Report safety variances to Manager on Duty
  • Some travel may be necessary for training & temporary duty.
  • Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or other Mission management.
