POSITION/TITLE: Material Handler
WORK LOCATION: West Chicago, IL (On-Site)
POSITION REPORTS TO: Warehouse Manager
PAY RANGE: $19-$23 per Hour (Dependent upon Experience)
SHIFT: 12AM -12PM (rotating schedule)
JOB SUMMARY:
Drives a forklift or clamp truck to move raw and packaging materials and finished product from the warehouse and production floor.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Maintains sufficient supply of bulk product, cardboard boxes, film, bags, tape, and other raw materials are on the production floor to ensure that the production flow of finished goods is not interrupted.
  • Removes finished products from the production area in a timely and safe manner.
  • Places and rotates finished good and ensures they are put away correctly by ensuring that the stack heights, aisle widths and product consolidation meet SOP standards.
  • Completes all paperwork, reports and loading documents as required by the Team Lead, Supervisor or Department Manager.
  • Repackage damaged product as needed.
  • Gathers and removes all scrap bales from holding area along with recording scrap weight before removing the bales to a designated area.
  • Maintains a safe, clean and organized work area.
  • Removes debris along with moving and dumping trash cans.
  • Perform preventive audits on the forklifts using checklist.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Team Lead, Supervisor, or Department Manager.
  • Follow all GMP and sanitation guidelines along with maintaining a high level of personal hygiene.
REQUIRED EXPEREINCE/SKILLS:
Experience – Must know how to drive and is certified to operate a forklift. One year in a warehouse and manufacturing environment.
Skills – Basic computer skills. Must be ability to read, write and speak English
PHYSICAL DEMANDS (Manufacturing Plant):
The characteristics listed below are representative of the physical demands required by an individual to successfully perform the essential duties of a position in our manufacturing plants. Note that office positions located within our Manufacturing Plants often require some plant floor presence throughout the day so that while these demands may not always apply, they should still be noted.
  • Team Member will frequently be required to actively listen and exchange information.
  • Team Member will be required to observe and assess information in a fast-paced environment.
  • Requires frequent use of a production, manufacturing equipment and/or machinery.
  • Will be required to frequently move/transport materials weighing up to 50 pounds which may require frequent bending, twisting and reaching motions.
  • Team Member may be required to remain stationary for extended periods.
  • Team Member may be required to stand for long periods up to 8, 10 or 12 hours shifts.
  • Team Member may be required to talk, walk, sit; use hands to finger, handle and feel objects, tools, and controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crawl or crouch.
WORK ENVIRONMENT (Manufacturing Plant):
The characteristics listed below are representative of the work environment typically encountered by an individual while performing the essential duties of a position in our manufacturing plants. Note that office positions located within our Manufacturing Plants often require some plant floor presence throughout the day so these work environment details may not always apply, they should still be noted.
  • Workspace is one that contains moving mechanical parts.
  • Requires work in an indoor manufacturing environment that may be exposed to extreme heat that is not air-conditioned.
  • Work environment contains loud noises and odors that may last for long periods of time or on a continual basis as well as occasional airborne particles.
  • Must wear PPE while working, which includes hairnet, hearing protection and safety glasses with side guards at all times.
  • Ability to work an 8+, 10+ or 12+ hour shifts as designated.
  • Able to work weekdays, weekends and overtime as designated.
