Job Summary
Responsible for overseeing and managing the construction, installation, and maintenance of electrical transmission systems. Ensure that projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to industry and organizational standards. Responsible for training and mentoring team members, as well as documenting project progress and maintaining records.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Qualified to supervise gloving on all voltages up to 40 KV.
Supervise the operation of a material handler bucket truck and a digger truck.
Supervise the set-up and operation of all wire pulling equipment.
Knowledge of all transformer connections Wye and Delta (single and three phase).
Supervise the cover-up of the work zone for the work involved.
Has excellent knowledge of rigging and wire pulling tools.
Supervise the setting of poles in an energized zone.
Supervise complex jobs.
Supervise the phasing of circuits and checking of rotation.
Supervise the restoration of service and troubleshooting of problems during restoration.
Can supervise building and replacing poles to meet customers specifications.
Properly fill out an as-built or red-line report.
Follow and understand instructions given by Customer oversight.
Supply scheduling with crews' capability on a regular basis.
Schedules work to the crews and meets the requested completion dates.
Inspect jobs after completion prior to jobs being turned in complete to the customer.
Interpret job packages, properly complete as built and audit projects.
Basic understanding of Customer switching procedures.
Determine if skill level of employee is correct for the employee's classification.
Know and understand state laws pertaining to Miss Utility.
Manage multiple crews and multiple projects.
Knowledge of traffic control setup and operations per The Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways (MUTCD)
Job Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Requires Class A level experience installing and maintaining overhead and underground power lines.
Valid CDL A is required.
First Aid Certification is required.
Competency in CPR and pole top rescue is required.
Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Email, Abacus, Excel, KPA)
Competent in operating ALL equipment including track bucket/digger.
Certification in safe traffic control practices and public safety techniques per state and local regulations are required.
Must be able to pass drug, alcohol, and background checks.
Must be able to pass a physical examination.
Able and willing to travel long distances on short notice.
Able and willing to work for extended periods in various locations.
Able and willing to work in all types of weather environments including inclement weather.
Able and willing to work overtime when required.
In-depth understanding of the utility industry and operations.
