Job description

Material Handler – Storage Operations

Position Summary

We are looking for hard-working, dependable, and motivated individuals to join our rapidly growing storage operation as Material Handlers.

This is a hands-on position for someone who takes pride in doing a job correctly, pays attention to the details, and can be counted on by the people working beside them. Our Material Handlers are responsible for receiving, inspecting, moving, organizing, and tracking large and heavy materials throughout the facility.

This is not a typical warehouse position. Our operation involves trucks, heavy materials, rigging, lifting equipment, and an active work environment where safety, communication, and attention to detail are critical.

Candidates with backgrounds in military service, construction, rigging, heavy equipment, industrial operations, logistics, or skilled trades are strongly encouraged to apply. We value people who are accustomed to working as part of a team, following procedures, taking responsibility for their work, and stepping up when something needs to get done.

What We're Looking For

The right person for this position doesn't need to know everything on day one. We can teach our processes and operation. What we're looking for is the right work ethic, attitude, and attention to detail.

Successful team members tend to be:

  • Dependable – You show up on time, prepared to work, and your team can count on you.
  • Detail-oriented – You understand that quantities, load information, inventory records, and material identification need to be correct.
  • Safety-minded – You recognize the risks involved with trucks, heavy materials, rigging, and equipment and don't take unnecessary shortcuts.
  • Hard-working – You're comfortable with physical work and aren't afraid to get your hands dirty.
  • Self-motivated – You don't need someone standing over you to stay productive.
  • Team-oriented – You communicate clearly and understand that everyone has a responsibility to keep the operation moving safely.
  • Accountable – You take ownership of your work and speak up when something doesn't look right.
  • Adaptable – You can adjust when priorities change and continue performing in a fast-paced environment.
  • Eager to learn – You want to develop new skills, learn equipment, and take on additional responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

As a Material Handler, you will:

  • Safely load and unload trucks and trailers carrying large and heavy materials.
  • Receive incoming deliveries and verify that materials and quantities match shipping and receiving documentation.
  • Inspect incoming and outgoing materials for damage, shortages, or other discrepancies.
  • Accurately count, identify, document, and track inventory throughout the storage facility.
  • Move, stage, organize, and prepare materials for storage or shipment.
  • Assist with rigging, securing, lifting, and positioning heavy materials.
  • Operate forklifts, telehandlers, loaders, or other material-handling equipment when properly trained and authorized.
  • Properly secure loads and help ensure materials are handled without damage.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Communicate with drivers, supervisors, equipment operators, and other team members to coordinate material movement.
  • Follow established safety procedures and immediately communicate unsafe conditions or damaged equipment.
  • Help identify better ways to organize materials and improve the efficiency of the facility.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as the operation continues to grow.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in construction, military logistics, rigging, material handling, heavy equipment, industrial operations, or a related field.
  • Experience working safely around large and heavy materials.
  • Rigging or load-securement experience preferred.
  • Heavy equipment or forklift experience preferred.
  • Ability to accurately count and document materials.
  • Strong situational awareness and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and safety requirements.
  • Comfortable working independently once trained.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with coworkers, supervisors, and drivers.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment and adjust as priorities change.
  • Strong attendance and reliability.

Physical & Work Environment

This is an active, hands-on position. Candidates should be comfortable:

  • Working around trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, and large materials.
  • Standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Bending, climbing, lifting, pushing, and pulling as required by the position.
  • Working indoors and outdoors depending on operational needs.
  • Working in varying weather conditions.
  • Wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Working safely around active equipment and lifting operations.

Opportunity for Advancement

We're growing quickly, and we're looking for people who want to grow with us.

This position can be the starting point for a long-term career within our storage operation. As new facilities and opportunities are added, employees who demonstrate strong performance, reliability, leadership, and initiative will have opportunities to take on

Who Should Apply?

You may be a great fit if you're the type of person who:

Shows up. Pays attention. Works hard. Looks out for the person beside you. Takes care of the equipment. Doesn't cut corners. Takes responsibility when something goes wrong. And wants the opportunity to move up when you've earned it.
