TITLE: Dimensional Control Technician

REPORTS TO: Production Manager

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

PAY RANGE: $35.00-$45.00 per hour DOE

FT / PT STATUS: Full Time

LOCATION: Shipyard(s) & Customer Facilities

SUMMARY

The Dimensional Control Technician is responsible for performing precise dimensional inspections, measurements, and calibration activities to ensure manufactured components meet engineering specifications and customer requirements. Using advanced measurement equipment, including Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), laser trackers, portable measuring arms, and precision hand tools, the Dimensional Control Technician verifies product accuracy while supporting manufacturing, quality assurance, and engineering teams. This position plays a critical role in maintaining compliance with customer specifications, NAVSEA requirements, and company quality standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform dimensional inspections and alignment of fabricated, machined, and assembled components.
  • Measure, mark dimensions and lay-out material to be installed using tools such as scribes, rulers, tape measures and squares.
  • Operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), laser trackers, portable CMM arms, optical measurement systems, and other precision metrology equipment.
  • Develop, edit, and execute inspection programs for CMM equipment.
  • Observes and complies with all safety and project rules and all company policies and procedures, ensure safety is a priority on the job during all activies , including using tools and installing all sheet-metel parts.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Familiarity with Spatial analyzer software.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • Lead teams to perform inspections and alignments.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & ATTRIBUTES

  • Ability to listen, understand, and follow directions.
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to read labels, safety warnings and guidelines
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Experience with precision measurement equipment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Highschool Diploma or equivalent
  • OSHA-10 (Company May Provide)
  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Precision Measurement, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of metrology or dimensional inspection experience preferred.
  • Previous experience operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) required

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Regularly exposed to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, dusty conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, hazardous machinery, heights, confined spaces, precarious places, proximity to other employees.
  • Repetitive, physical work
  • Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 50+ pounds (50 lbs occasionally, 25 lbs frequently, 10 lbs constantly)
  • Lifting includes from floor to waist, waist to shoulder, waist to overhead
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders
  • May be required to wear a respirator
  • Willing to accommodate 20-40% travel and occasional non-standard work hours to support schedule and critical alignments.
