Job Summary

Dominion Energy an exciting opportunity on our Supply Chain Management team as an Associate Materials Specialist, Materials Specialist, or Senior Materials Specialist. This position can be filled at our Innsbrook Office in Glen Allen, VA , supporting the Electric Transmission team. The level of the position will be based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

Responsibilities include:

Evaluate and processes requests and documentation, to ensure material is processed and ordered in a timely basis. Perform inventory analysis to include updating stocking levels, rounding value, minimum lot size, or material classification based on current and historical movement history to determine actual demand. Effectively communicate with business unit and internal customers. Consult with planners to determine real versus contingency requirements. Review on-hand inventory for possible transfer opportunities. Maintain the integrity of the SAP material master and other systems used for tracking inventory. Responsible for new item creation, extending materials to other known locations, combining like for like materials, accuracy of mass load requirements, and processing transfer requests. Review monthly reporting such as obsolete, deplete/delete, and inventory variance reports and ensure items are addressed promptly. Publish monthly reports for workload analysis and work with the team to reduce aged requests. Understanding and familiarity with the nuances of material commodities and knowledge of BOMs, assets, and batch management. Analyzes material usage patterns to set appropriate stocking levels. Resolves supply chain issues between suppliers and customer groups. Develops supplier and service network, to ensure adequate supply sources. Analyzes inventory and surplus or obsolete materials and acts to minimize stocking levels. Prepares and monitors inventory forecasts. Tracks and identifies material and vendor stocking requirements. Analyzes inventory methods of control, reduction, classification, usage, and other development techniques. Assists with development and implementation of warehousing strategies. May evaluate and process material requisitions and reservations, to ensure items are properly classified and described, attributes meet corporate standards, and need date is sufficient. Perform other duries as assigned. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Associate Materials Specialist: 0-2 years of basic knowledge of materials management, procurement processes, and inventory control experience.

  • Basic knowledge of client groups, commodities, and specialties.
  • Basic knowledge of environmental, government, legal, and regulatory requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of nuclear plant equipment and materials.
  • Basic knowledge of inventory analysis techniques.
  • Basic knowledge of warehouse layout.
  • Basic Knowledge of SAP Supply Chain Materials Management transactions, preferable.
  • Working knowledge of supplier relations, priority management, and tactical planning.
  • Good oral, written, and presentation skills.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Basic forecasting and trend analysis skills.
  • Computer skills.
  • Value and cost analysis skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to process information quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to walk, stoop, and bend to perform walkdowns and to search for materials.
  • Good color vision to identify materials.
  • Good hearing for telephone communications.

Materials Specialist: 2-3 years related work experience. In addition to the above experience, the Mid-level must also have: 

  • Knowledge of materials management, procurement processes, and inventory control.
  • Knowledge of client groups, commodities, and specialties.
  • Knowledge of environmental, government, legal, and regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of inventory analysis techniques.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to process information quickly and accurately.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Experience with SAP, preferred. 
     

Senior Materials Specialist: 5 + years related experience. In addition to the above experience, the Senior must also have: 

  • In-depth knowledge of materials management, procurement processes, and inventory control.
  • Working knowledge of material contract law.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of client groups, commodities, and specialties.
  • Working knowledge of environmental, government, legal, and regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and codes for equipment and materials.
  • Knowledge of inventory analysis techniques, including analysis and trending of material usage patterns.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical, forecasting, trend analysis, and value and cost analysis skills.
  • Strong computer skills, with emphasis on Supply Chain, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Customer service orientation.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to process information quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to read and use vendor manuals, drawings, equipment and material codes, and standards.
  • Results orientation.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Expected Hiring Base Salary Range:

Associate        $52,800 to $68,600

Intermediate   $65,500 to $85,000

Senior             $81,900 to $106,400
