Industrial Tint & Color Match Technician – Wood Coatings

Tampa, FL 33634

Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm

$21.00-$25.00/HR based on experience

Position Overview

The Industrial Tint & Color Match Technician is responsible for accurately mixing, matching, and formulating wood coatings, stains, and tints to meet customer specifications. This role supports production, warehouse operations, and customer service by ensuring high-quality finishes, maintaining accurate records, and providing technical product support. The ideal candidate has strong color-matching ability, hands-on industrial experience, and the ability to work safely and independently in a manufacturing environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesColor Matching & Coating Formulation
  • Mix, match, and formulate wood coatings, stains, and tints based on customer requirements and product specifications

  • Read job orders and inspect surfaces to determine materials, formulas, and application techniques

  • Maintain accurate color-match records, formulas, and documentation

  • Provide technical support to customers regarding coating systems, lacquer products, and application methods

  • Maintain tinting tools, spray guns, and mixing equipment in proper working condition

Production & Warehouse Support
  • Assist warehouse operations as needed, including inventory control, shipping/receiving, and material handling

  • Operate a stand-up forklift (or be willing to learn) to support warehouse workflow

  • Support customers at the counter or over the phone when required

  • Work collaboratively with production, warehouse, and distribution teams to ensure efficient operations and customer satisfaction

Safety & Physical Requirements
  • Lift, push, or carry materials up to 50 lbs

  • Work safely around industrial fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work area

  • Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements

Qualifications
  • Experience in tinting, color matching, coatings, or a related industrial/manufacturing role

  • Excellent color perception (Farnsworth-Munsell test required)

  • Experience tinting paint, stains, or lacquer strongly preferred

  • Ability to operate or learn to operate a stand-up forklift

  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and manage time effectively

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Basic math aptitude and strong computer skills

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service abilities

  • High school diploma required; post-secondary education preferred
