Job description

Material Handler

A Material Handler at Huhtamaki is responsible for receiving, moving, storing, and supplying raw materials and finished products throughout the manufacturing facility to support continuous production.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Load, unload, move, and store raw materials and finished goods using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment.
  • Supply production lines with materials to maintain continuous manufacturing operations.
  • Transport finished products to warehouse or shipping areas.
  • Receive incoming materials and verify quantities against purchase orders and packing slips.
  • Perform inventory transactions and maintain accurate inventory records using scanners or warehouse systems.
  • Inspect materials for damage and report discrepancies or quality concerns.
  • Prepare products for shipping by labeling, wrapping, and staging pallets.
  • Follow all safety procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and company policies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized warehouse and production area using 5S principles.
  • Assist with cycle counts, inventory audits, and other warehouse duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous warehouse, material handling, or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the shift.
  • Basic computer and inventory system skills are helpful.
  • Strong attention to detail, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed.
