Job description

Job Title: Porter CDL Driver

Classification: Non-Exempt

Reports To: Service Manager or Branch Manager

Position Type: Part Time Part-Time

Pay Rate: $23 - $26 an hour (depending on experience)

Work Schedule: Minimum 3 days a week

Work Location: Fontana, CA

Job Summary: The Porter CDL driver is extremely detailed, exhibits a high sense of accountability for workload, and enjoys process improvement and management. The Porter CDL manages multiple tasks and priorities and is a self-motivated individual who can actively engage and is accountable for the safety and security of all company property under their care. In this role, you will move and park buses, vans and other vehicles on our lot, in addition to delivering them to various locations within the metropolitan area of the designated branch, or to other client or company locations, as assigned. As a porter, your duties include keeping track of parked vehicles and making sure that the parking lot is neat and presentable. To ensure success as a porter, you should exhibit safe driving skills and have experience working with fleet vehicles and internal and external customers. Ultimately, a top-notch porter is someone who can be entrusted with valuable property.  

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in organizing the parking lot daily.
  • Using the radios provided for each shuttle following guidelines and using proper radio etiquette
  • Doing a Check-Out/Return on every vehicle for Rental.
  • Noting damage to units upon return.
  • Keep the back lot organized.
  • Bring vehicles in when needed.
  • Pick up customer vehicles.
  • Fueling vehicles and topping off fluids when necessary.
  • Transport vehicles.
  • Assisting detailer as needed.

This position is classified as safety‑sensitive and requires employees to perform duties where impaired performance could pose a significant risk to the health and safety of themselves or others. To ensure a safe and reliable work environment, candidates must successfully complete pre‑employment drug testing and may be subject to ongoing, random, or post‑incident testing in accordance with company policy and applicable state and federal regulations.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Required Education/Experience/Certifications:

  • Valid Driving License
  • CDL with passenger endorsement
  • DOT Medical certification
  • Participation in the DOT drug and alcohol screening, as well as internal screening and safety requirements

Preferred Education/Experience/Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

Travel Requirements:

Within metropolitan area of assigned company location, driving company vehicles
