Job description

Job Duties: As a member of a multidisciplinary team and under the supervision of a qualified clinical supervisor, interns will learn/be exposed to and perform mental health screening, diagnostic assessment, treatment planning, individual and group psychotherapy, marriage and family therapy, client psychoeducation, electronic client record documentation, multidisciplinary clinical consultation, coordination of services and referral.
Orientation to MnTC- Interns will: โ€ข Attend MnTC Orientation. โ€ข Review MnTC policy procedures, schedules, client rules and expectations. โ€ข Be given tour of facility, and introduction to staff and leadership โ€ข Develop clinical supervision plan with clinical supervisor โ€ข Review current client charts to gain understanding of needs. โ€ข Be assigned a Mental Health Professional to shadow and provide direct supervision throughout their internship, in addition to clinical supervisor. โ€ข Be trained on completion of the MH Diagnostic Assessment, Treatment Plan, Notes and Billing in Procentive โ€ข Review the group facilitation guide โ€ข Review the handbook of cognitive-behavioral interventions โ€ข Be familiar with all treatment resources in MnTC e-library โ€ข Shadow/observe and then be shadowed/observed by MHP on clinical duties โ€ข Pair with an LADC to provide co-occurring/integrated group psychotherapy
Administrative Requirements: Clinical records: maintain clinical records in accordance with MnTC guidelines Staff meetings: Regularly attend /participate in weekly staff meetings Evaluation: Complete/submit evaluation forms as assigned Paperwork: Complete all paperwork on time
Skills & Requirements
Job Requirements: For those pursuing their LPCC, LMFT, or LICSW. The Mental Health Practitioner must be a graduate student in one of the mental health professional disciplines and is formally assigned by accredited college/university to an agency or facility for clinical training; OR Holds a masters or other graduate degree in one of the mental health professional disciplines from an accredited college/university. (MS 244.462; Subd. 17).
In addition to the above criteria the intern is responsible to meet and track their Graduate Program's supervised clinical experience, site requirements. A mental health practitioner working as a clinical trainee must: โ€ข Be complying with requirements for licensure or board certification as a mental health professional including supervised practice in the delivery of mental health services for the treatment of mental illness; OR โ€ข Be a student in a bona fide field placement or internship under a program leading to completion of the requirements for licensure as a mental health professional
The clinical trainee's clinical supervision experience helps the practitioner gain knowledge and skills necessary to practice effectively and independently and may include supervision of: โ€ข Direct practice โ€ข Treatment team collaboration โ€ข Continued professional learning โ€ข Job management
Time Commitment: MnTC prefers that interns commit to a minimum of 15 hours of service for a period of at least 6 months. Most service hours will be during the day (business hours) with the possibility of Tuesday night and Saturday morning hours for family programming. Some additional evening hours may be available for providing assessments, individual, family and marriage counseling.
