Job description

Job Title: Human Resource Manager
Location: 3685 North National Road Columbus, Indiana 47201
Level: Office
Position Type: Salary/Full Time
Job Purpose:
  • Direct and coordinate the administrative functions of our organization
  • Oversee the recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of new staff
  • Consult with top executives on strategic planning
  • Serve as a link between an organizations management and its employees

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensures policies comply with federal and state laws
  • Develops and maintains a human resource system that meets needs of the company
  • Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting HR functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance
  • Administers various HR plans and procedures for all company personnel; develops and implements policies and procedures; prepares and maintains employee handbook and safety book
  • Recruits, interviews, and selects employees to fill positions (Management, Hourly, Office, Maintenance, and Five Guys)
  • Plans and conducts new employee orientation
  • Keeps records of: hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations
  • Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee issues
  • Prepares turnover reports
  • Represents Estep & Company Inc. at unemployment hearings
  • Verifies I-9 documentation
  • Posts recruitment on selected job boards
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned
  • Background checks

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Knowledge of state and federal employment law
  • Excellent searching and sourcing techniques; createive recruiting, job postings, etc.
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with applicants and at levels within the company organization
  • Anticipates and solves basic HR employee issues
  • Manages time effectively; excellent planning and prioritization skills
  • Maintains confidentiality and a high level of business ethics
  • Adapts quickly and easily to changing priorities

Working Conditions:
This job is based out of Estep & Company Inc.'s home office in Columbus, Indiana. There is some travel required as we have stores in the northern part of Indiana (Kokomo, Muncie, Lafayette) and stores in the southern part of Indiana (Columbus, Nashville,IN, Brownstown, Brazil, Greencastle, New Palestine, Greenfield).
