This position is responsible for providing care to oncology patients in collaboration with the CCNW physicians. Scope of responsibility includes expert practitioner, educator/teacher, care management, consultant researcher, and leader. Supports and adheres to the Cancer Care Northwest Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each of the essential duties/responsibilities listed below.   • Obtains health histories by performing complete physical examinations and psychosocial assessments, interprets findings from the examinations, contributing to the problem list and a plan of care.
  • Performs clinical and diagnostic procedures which may include complete skin examination, manual breast examination, digital rectal examination, fecal occult blood test, as indicated by complete history, physical examination, gender, age, lifestyle, and personal behavior risk factors in accordance with the American Cancer Society and other leading professional organization cancer screening and follow-up guidelines.
  • Performs diagnostic procedures which may include skin biopsies.
  • Provides diagnostic and pharmacologic management of the disease process and treatment side effects through ongoing assessment, intervention and education in collaboration with the physician in the office and hospital settings.
  • Works within the guidelines established in the policy manual related to Nursing Protocol, Chemotherapy Guidelines, Admixture policies and Quality Assessment/Quality of Care.
  • Integrates an individualized health maintenance program for clientele in the community and office
  • Utilizes resources and problem solves when system barriers occur as the client repeatedly moves through acute, ambulatory, and home care settings.
  • Provides knowledge in area of clinical expertise throughout the following phases of the illness trajectory: prevention, detection, diagnosis, acute care, terminal care/home care, rehabilitation, and survivorship to members of the multidisciplinary team involved in the assessment and management of individuals/families with cancer.
  • Evaluates and implements nursing and non-nursing research findings.
  • Collaborates with other members of the medical/nursing research community to implement and evaluate research protocols and report research findings.
  • Serves as a resource person for the nursing staff by providing information being studied in clinical trials.
  • Performs all other duties/responsibilities as necessary or assigned.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Nurse Practitioner Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program. This position is entry-level and typically requires a minimum of 0-3 years post MSN experience, preferably in the chosen specialty.
  • RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state. Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner. Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required specialty.
  • Current state license as a Physician Assistant in practicing state.
  • Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.
  • OR Clinical Nurse Specialist Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Clinical Nurse Specialist program. This position is entry-level and typically requires a minimum of 0-3 years of post-MSN experience, preferably in the chosen specialty.
  • RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
  • Current state licensure as a Clinical Nurse Specialist.
  • Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.
