A Masters in Health Informatics job involves using technology, data, and analytics to improve healthcare delivery, patient outcomes, and administrative efficiency. Professionals in this field work with electronic health records (EHRs), health information systems, and data analytics to support clinical and operational decision-making. They may work in hospitals, research institutions, insurance companies, or government agencies. Roles include Health Informatics Specialist, Clinical Data Analyst, Health IT Consultant, and Chief Medical Information Officer.
Professionals with a Masters in Health Informatics often lead or contribute to projects such as implementing electronic health record (EHR) systems, optimizing clinical workflow processes, managing healthcare data analytics, and ensuring regulatory compliance with health information privacy standards. They may also participate in initiatives to improve data interoperability across healthcare facilities or to develop tools that enhance the quality and efficiency of patient care. These roles frequently involve collaboration with healthcare providers, IT teams, administrators, and external vendors to deliver technology solutions that address real-world clinical challenges. As a result, you can expect a dynamic work environment with opportunities to drive meaningful improvements in patient outcomes and organizational performance.
To thrive as a professional with a Masters in Health Informatics, you need a strong background in healthcare systems, data analysis, and information management, typically supported by a master's degree in health informatics or a related field. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR), health information exchanges (HIE), data analytics platforms, and certifications such as Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS) is highly valued. Strong problem-solving skills, collaborative teamwork, and effective communication abilities help professionals excel in multidisciplinary healthcare environments. These skills are crucial for ensuring secure, efficient information flow, regulatory compliance, and data-driven decision-making in modern healthcare organizations.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Manager, Clinical Informatics serves as the operational leader for Clinical IT initiatives at Nexus Health Systems. This role owns the end-to-end project management function for all Clinical Technology Governance Board (CTGB) governed clinical informatics projects, currently spanning approximately 30 active initiatives at varying stages of execution. The position is governed operationally by the Clinical Technology Governance Board (CTGB) and reports administratively to the Director of IT Operations.
Clinical IT initiatives at Nexus Health Systems are governed by the Clinical Technology Governance Board (CTGB), a clinically-led body that prioritizes, approves, and oversees all major clinical informatics projects. The Senior Manager is the primary IT partner to CTGB, owning portfolio-wide project execution, structured status reporting, and the operational pipeline that turns approved initiatives into delivered outcomes.
Approximately 85% of the EMR Applications portfolio is clinical in nature, with the remaining 15% supporting Central Business Office (CBO) revenue cycle functions. The ideal candidate brings the rare combination of registered nursing experience, formal project management discipline (PMP), full-lifecycle EMR implementation expertise, and working knowledge of EMR-driven revenue cycle operations.
This is a highly visible, onsite leadership role. The Senior Manager represents Corporate IT in clinical governance forums, delivers boardroom-level reporting to the Nexus Health Systems leadership team, and serves as a trusted partner to facility clinical leadership, operational stakeholders, and implementation vendors.
