Fitness DirectorPosition Summary
The Fitness Director is responsible for leading the Personal Training department by creating exceptional member experiences, driving personal training sales, and growing recurring training revenue. This role is highly sales-driven and focuses on conducting Success Sessions, converting members into personal training clients, developing a high-performing team of Personal Trainers, and ensuring the department consistently achieves performance goals.
The ideal candidate is a passionate fitness professional with strong leadership abilities, excellent sales skills, and a commitment to helping members achieve lasting results.
Essential Responsibilities
Member Experience & Success Sessions
  • Conduct complimentary Success Sessions with new and existing members.
  • Build relationships with members by identifying fitness goals and recommending personalized training solutions.
  • Deliver a world-class onboarding experience that increases member engagement and retention.
  • Consistently follow up with prospective and existing personal training clients.
Personal Training Sales
  • Generate new recurring personal training memberships through consultative selling.
  • Achieve and exceed monthly personal training sales goals.
  • Execute sales strategies that contribute to overall club revenue growth.
  • Monitor cancellations, freezes, and retention while implementing strategies to improve member longevity.
Personal Training Department Leadership
  • Recruit, interview, onboard, and develop Personal Trainers.
  • Coach trainers on sales, service, and session delivery to maximize department performance.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and ongoing coaching sessions.
  • Foster a positive, accountable, and results-oriented team culture.
Operations & Administration
  • Maintain accurate client records and department reporting.
  • Participate in all required meetings, training sessions, and continuing education.
  • Ensure company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures are consistently followed.
  • Assist with department scheduling, staffing, and overall operational excellence.
Qualifications
Required
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in personal training sales, fitness management, or a related leadership role.
  • Proven ability to achieve and exceed sales goals.
  • Experience leading, coaching, or mentoring fitness professionals.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
  • Current nationally recognized Personal Training certification (or ability to obtain within company guidelines).
  • CPR/AED Certification.
Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Management, Business, or related field.
  • Experience managing recurring revenue and membership retention.
  • Previous leadership experience in a health club or fitness environment.
