The Enterprise Architect plays an integral role in building a holistic view and roadmap of the company's technology strategy, processes, and information technology roadmap. The Enterprise Architect partners with both business and technology groups to ensure that the proposed technical solutions not only align with the company's overall objectives, but also ensures that both groups enable and drive each other to meet the needs of the company's mission and vision. Enterprise Architect must possess broad experiences to leverage and draw upon in building out the vision, strategy and roadmap working in varying levels of abstraction.

Primary Responsibilities

Leads the creation of architecture strategies and develops technical architecture and solutions for large enterprise level applications and systems

Builds the long-term strategy and roadmap that aligns with IT to business strategy and objectives.

Works with business and technology stakeholders to develop and iterate enterprise architecture that adapts to changing business needs

Works on highly complex enterprise-wide projects that require in-depth knowledge across multiple specialized architecture domains.

Seamlessly integrates business and service strategy into enterprise architecture roadmap.

Partners with business and technology subject-matter experts to elicit and translate business requirements into technological solutions.

Leads the design and modeling of tactical architectures for delivery, development, and support of projects.

Partners with other solution architects to provide a consensus based scalable and adaptable architectural solution.

Develops and maintains policies, standards, and guidelines to ensure that a consistent framework is applied across the company.

Leads design governance across IT teams

Maintains a strong understanding of the business strategy, IT strategy and commercial frameworks within IT

Promotes the use of a shared infrastructure and application roadmap to reduce costs and improve how information flows.

Manages and facilitates review boards to evaluate project proposals for architectural fit.

Circulates roadmaps to align IT priorities with business partner needs.

Qualifications

Any combination of relevant education and experience and/or related professional designations/certifications in this field is highly desirable.

Education

Minimum Required: Bachelor's in a business related field or Computer Science, Information Technology, or Computer Engineering

Masters in a Business Related field or Computer Science, Information Technology, or Computer Engineering, preferred

Experience

12+ years' experience.

Technologies

Expert in Java technologies and ecosystem, with good understanding of tools and frameworks in both commercial and open-source domains.

Breadth of expertise in multi-discipline technology domains typical of large-scale enterprise transformations.

Knowledge of integration technologies (ESB, BPM, API Gateway) and application to API-first architectures.

Understanding of content management systems and Content as a Service models.

Latest user interface and user experience technologies (AngularJS, ReactJS, Google Material Design) and mobile-first architectures.

Proficient in security concepts such as OAuth, SSO, and Attribute Based Access Control.

Master Data Management concepts especially in the insurance domain.

Configuration Management (ex. Chef, Puppet, Ansible).

Continuous Integration (ex. Jenkins).

Relational (Oracle, SQL Server) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, etc)

Awareness of open source tools and technologies.

Essential Skills

Demonstrate depth and breadth of expertise in Enterprise Architecture Frameworks; Deep insurance domain expertise.

Proven track-record of design and development of medium to high complexity IT solutions for applications and systems

Ability to defend architectural decisions to IT, business, and operations audiences

Ability to build relationships and work across IT and Business functions

Ability to articulate the relationship between business strategy and technology strategy and provide thought leadership.

Excellent interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation.
