Engineering Group Head II -Completions Certification in  GAC Appleton

The Completions Certification Group Head provides technical and organizational leadership for Completions Certification activities, ensuring engineering designs meet regulatory requirements while supporting Gulfstream’s quality, schedule and customer objectives.  The role develops high-performing teams by promoting accountability, strengthening regulatory capability, and reinforcing Gulfstream’s culture of safety, technical excellence, and exceptional customer experience.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervision, assignments, and guidance to a team of Engineering Airworthiness Representatives (EAR’s)
  • Assist engineering management/ ODA / and configuration management on certification questions and direction
  • Demonstrate creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving procedural issues that may impact the schedule of aircraft STC/TC/MRA issuance.
  • Actively work to improve the department processes and ensures all work meets customer and regulatory requirements and expectations.
  • Maintain a current and up-to-date knowledge in the field
  • Ensure adherence to Gulfstream processes, ODA procedures, quality standards, and safety expectations across all certification activities
  • Identify certification risks early, guide teams toward solutions, and manage corrective actions to support aircraft delivery commitments

Required Skills:

  • Must be proficient in working with MS Office software.
  • Experience in working with regulatory requirements.
  • Must possess excellent attention to detail and display the ability to effectively adjust to changing engineering practices and procedures.
  • Must have excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Must have experience developing and leading a team of people with diverse experience and backgrounds.
  • Must have a proven track record of positive leadership in a fast paced, dynamic environment where priorities shift often.
 
Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's Degree Engineering or related curriculum required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job. 13 years Engineering experience. 8 years specific technical discipline. Experience credit considered for related advanced degrees limited to 2 yrs with Masters and 4 yrs with PhD in field applicable to this job. 5 years supervisory or broad managerial responsibility. Position Purpose: Leads a multi-disciplined group of engineering employees with diverse skills. Utilizing creative and mature engineering judgment, manages complex engineering problems by directing subordinate employees. Determines program objectives and requirements, organizes and estimates work scope of programs and projects.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities: Essential Functions:
  1. Develops and administers organizational unit schedules, tasks, and deliverables, sets performance requirements, estimates work scopes, ensures quality of delivered product, and monitors budget performance.
  2. Manages directly, or through subordinates, employees that perform similar or related tasks; establishes performance expectations, conducts performance appraisals, salary management, and participates in development, training, and counseling of employees.
  3. Responsible for establishing and executing objectives that support both short and long term goals.
  4. Conducts briefings for senior level management and conducts technical meetings for internal/external contacts and customers.
  5. Acts as an advisor to subordinate supervisors or staff members to meet schedules and resolve complex technical or operational problems. .
  6. Directly participates in functional projects; must lead a cooperative effort among members of a project team.
Additional Functions:
  1. Interprets, executes, and recommends modifications to organizational policies. .
