Job description

The Certified Chaplain will provide pastoral ministry in a manner which exemplifies the philosophy, mission and values of the Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care Department at Baptist Health South Florida, acting as worship and sacramental leader, counselor, advocate-mediator, educator, and spiritual guide. The CC will maintain his/her relationship with the endorsing religious denomination current and in good standing at all times while employed at Baptist Health South Florida. The CC will remain active and engaged with local congregation or faith community for personal support and accountability. The CC will assist the Director of Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care and departmental senior leadership in the implementation of all programming, policies and procedures, as outlined by the Departments Policies and Procedures Manual. As the religious representative before Baptist Health South Florida and related communities, the CC will be held accountable to the highest level of professional ethics and moral conduct. THE BALANCE OF WORK FUNCTIONS AND ACADEMIC ASSIGNMENTS OF A CERTIFIED CHAPLAIN WHO IS AN ACTIVE ACPE CERTIFIED EDUCATOR CANDIDATE (CEC) IN GOOD STANDING WILL BE DETERMINED BY THE SITE DIRECTOR OF PASTORAL CARE IN CLOSE COORDINATION WITH THE CEC'S EDUCATOR/SUPERVISOR. 

Degrees:
  • Masters.
Licenses & Certifications:
  • Ministerial Ordination.
Additional Qualifications:
  • Masters of Divinity or equivalent degree required.
  • Two years of experience in Healthcare chaplaincy or equivalent ministerial experience.
  • Four units of Clinical Pastoral Education through ACPE or equivalent training and experience.
  • Professional Board certification by a recognized chaplaincy certifying organization or Certified Educator Candidate status with ACPE and in process of board certification.
  • Ministerial Ordination or equivalent.
  • Up to date denominational endorsement for ministry in the healthcare setting.
  • Additional qualification for Roman Catholic Priests: ministerial ordination, endorsement and faculty appointment for ministry at BHSF by the Archdiocese of Miami.
Minimum Required Experience: 2 Years
