Summary

The dietitian is responsible for providing comprehensive, high quality medical nutrition therapy to patients and clients. This position's areas of responsibility include: assessment of nutritional needs, provision of medical nutrition therapy and nutritional education. This position may participate in community service by providing nutrition education to various groups or individuals in the community.

General Hours of Work
  • Monday through Friday
Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Food & Nutrition or related area. Masters degree with 2-5 years of clinical experience preferred. One year of experience in clinical dietetics and/or food service management preferred, experience in both clinical dietetics and food service management preferred.
Certificate, Licenses, Registrations
  • Registered with the American Dietetic Association. Licensed with the Iowa State Board of Examiners of Dietitians. Must maintain continuing education requirements set by state licensure regulations and the commission on Dietetic Registration. This position requires a valid driver's license and must carry their own automobile liability insurance.
Essential Functions
  • Plans general diets in the cycle menus and plans four weeks of cycle menus.
  • Extends a modified diet to correlate with the general norms.
  • Provides Medical Nutrition Therapy to patients and residents as needed.
  • Plans special diets and therapeutic diets.
  • Inspects trays for proper identification, attractiveness, and palatability.
  • Monitors food storage and handling.
  • Periodically reviews food preparation techniques.
  • Completes initial assessments on new LTC residents and reviews each resident quarterly.
  • Documents LTC resident's likes, dislikes, food consumption, and weight records.
  • Visits with patients for nutritional needs and food preferences.
  • Computes annual and quarterly minimum data set Dietary areas on residents following care plan policy.
  • Collaborates with the multi-disciplinary patient team. Establishes goals for nutrition care of patients, conducts assessments, and develops individualized nutrition care plans with ongoing evaluation of nutrition status through the continuum of care.
  • Conducts in-services and educational events for Sioux Center Health team members, patients and community members.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
