Job description

Responsibilities

As an Art Therapist, you will use a wide range of artistic activities to improve physical, cognitive, emotional, social, spiritual, and leisure functioning of patients. Together with clinical and residential rehabilitation, you will use a wide range of therapeutic activity and community-based interventions and techniques to improve the physical, cognitive, emotional, social, spiritual, and leisure functioning of patients. Work is full time during the weekdays, 7:30am-4:30pm. Work is performed at the clinic with some work at the residential site and in the community.

  • After assessing patients, develops programs with measurable goals that incorporate specific abilities, tolerance, and interests into therapy to achieve optimal outcomes that transfer to real life situations.  
  • Organizes and facilitates individual and group art programs/projects for assigned patients to enable a greater quality of life. 
  • Develops and implements therapeutic interventions consistent with the patients’ needs and interests
  • Locates, develops, and stays current on clinical and community resources available to enhance patient programs and outcomes. Develops curriculum to enhance treatment. 
  • Develops and implements individualized home and community plans for the patients' residential program 

Pay Range is $71,000 - $90,000

Qualifications

Experience and Education: 

  • Educational Background
    • Bachelor's Degree in Art, Art Therapy, Counseling, or healthcare-related field is required. Masters in Art Therapy is preferred
  • Work Experience
    • Minimum of 2 – 5 years of related work experience required. 
    • Certification in Recreational Therapy is desired.  Eligibility to sit for certification and maintaining certification is required.  
    • Certification in Art Therapy through the Art Therapy Credentials Board is desired.
