Job description

Position Summary:
As the Senior Director of Enterprise Architecture, you will be the chief architect of our technological future. You aren't just drawing boxes and arrows; you are defining the blueprint for our digital evolution. You will lead the Enterprise Architecture (EA) discipline, ensuring our systems are scalable, resilient, and aligned with our long-term business goals. This role requires a rare blend of deep technical mastery (from Mainframe and Monolith solutions to Microservices) and the executive presence to lead cross-functional transformations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Architecture Governance and Compliance: Oversee the governance processes related to enterprise architecture and ensure compliance with internal and external regulations and policies.
  • Transformation Leadership: Lead large-scale digital transformation initiatives, specifically bridging the gap between legacy Mainframe systems and modern DevOps-driven environments.
  • Strategy Development: Develop and maintain an enterprise architecture strategy that aligns with the organization's business goals and IT strategy. Build and maintain 3-5 year technical roadmaps that transition the organization from legacy environments to modern, cloud-native ecosystems.
  • Architecture Design and Modeling: Design and model the enterprise architecture framework, including business, application, data, and technology layers.
  • Documentation & Visualization: Champion a culture of rigorous documentation and architecture analysis. You will be responsible for the "Single Source of Truth" for our system topography.
  • Technology Evaluation and Selection: Evaluate and select technologies that best fit the enterprise needs, considering factors like scalability, security, and cost.
  • Standards and Policies Development: Establish and maintain architecture standards and policies to ensure consistency and compliance across the organization.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with various stakeholders, including business leaders, IT teams, and external vendors, to understand needs and communicate the value of enterprise architecture.
  • Change Management: Facilitate change management processes to adapt the enterprise architecture in response to evolving business needs and technological advancements.
  • Project Oversight: Provide guidance and oversight to projects, ensuring they align with the overall enterprise architecture.
  • Innovation and Research: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends, and assess their potential impact on the business.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with enterprise architecture, including technology risks and alignment with business objectives.
  • Performance Measurement: Measure and report on the performance of the enterprise architecture, ensuring it delivers the expected business value.
  • Training and Mentoring: Train and mentor other IT staff in architectural principles and practices.
  • Resource Management: Manage resources, including budget and personnel, related to enterprise architecture initiatives.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of the enterprise architecture, policies, and procedures.
  • Continuous Improvement: Continuously review and improve the enterprise architecture to ensure it remains relevant and effective.
Required Experience & Skills:
  • Technical Expertise: Mastery of Cloud-native patterns, DevOps (CI/CD), and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE). Preferred experience in Mainframe environments (z/OS, COBOL, DB2) coupled
  • Transformation Veteran: Proven track record of leading complex migrations and organizational change-you've successfully overseen "monolith to microservices".
  • Master Communicator: Ability to explain the Why behind an architectural decision to key leaders across the company, and the How to Senior Developers and Engineers.
  • Modeling Proficiency: High-level expertise in architectural modeling tools and frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Open Agile Architecture, ArchiMate, or C4 model).
  • Analytical Rigor: Strong capability in Architecture Analysis-identifying bottlenecks, security risks, and cost-inefficiencies before they become outages.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in hardlines distribution, wholesale, manufacturing, logistics, or supply-chain-intensive industries.
  • Prior responsibility for IBM mainframe or other legacy enterprise platforms within a modernization context.
  • Deep experience with event-driven architectures, integration platforms, and modern API strategies.
  • Experience operating in a global, multi-region enterprise environment.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field required.
  • Master's degree (MBA or MS) preferred, or equivalent combination of education and executive-level experience.
