Job description

Under the direct or indirect supervision of a licensed physician, the Advanced Nurse Clinician/Physician Assistant assesses patients' Medical/surgical conditions, administers treatments under physician orders or in conformity with usual practice, advises and counsels patients or their legal guardian of patient problems. This privilege does not include the practice of obtaining informed consent. Demonstrates knowledge of the psychosocial needs, clinical assessment implications, and/or consequences of technology.
Additional Education Requirements
Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing Masters program or Masters of Medical Science Physician Assistant Studies. Evidence of continuing education. Current unrestricted Tennessee licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse and RN or Physician's Assistant. Must hold a national Certification in a Nursing Specialty Area.
Additional Certification Details
Prescriptive Authority (DEA Number), proficient in clinical skills of assessment of critically ill patients. Skills required but not limited to: intubation, central line placement, arterial line placement and ventilator management. Abides by agreed upon protocol for patient care and possess excellent communication skills. Knowledge and understanding of computer use.
1-3 years of Healthcare/Medical Nurse Practitioner preferred. Previous experience as RN in ICU considered.
