Job Description

Provides reference and education services at assigned libraries via virtual as well as on-site consultations. Conducts expert literature searches to meet information needs; provides instruction in the use of library services and resources and develops training materials. Coordinates with other library staff for document delivery and specialized services; collaborates in the planning and evaluation of library services.

Job Responsibility

Develops search strategies and conducts expert literature searches to locate journal articles and other types of literature to meet information needs and find the best evidence to support clinical care, education, patient safety, clinical research, and scholarly projects for GME programs.
Provides instruction for groups, classes, or individuals on searching the literature, managing citations, and accessing library resources via virtual methods and on-site presentations; develops and produces training materials, including web tutorials in collaboration with other library staff.
Collaborates with the leadership in planning and evaluating library services for the assigned libraries to facilitate a standard optimal level of services supporting the Hospital's mission, JCAHO certification, ACGME requirements, and workload prioritization.
Prepares statistical and narrative reports as requested.
Provides liaison reference services for library users at assigned libraries of the organization via virtual technologies as well as on-site consultations.
Collaborates with nursing staff for support of Magnet status or the framework of Magnet in evidence based practice activities.
Participates in the in-house councils as well as appropriate workgroups at the assigned hospitals.
Collaborates with librarians across Northwell facilities/partners as a team.
Coordinates with other hospitals' library staff for additional library services including but not limited to: document delivery, the systematic review service, survey design, and collection development of electronic resources.
Operates under general guidance and work assignments are varied and require interpretation and independent decisions on course of action.
