Job description

Thank you for your interest in employment with Southeastern Louisiana University.
Southeastern Louisiana University's Sim Memorial Library invites applications for the position of Head of Research and Instruction. The purpose of this position is to ensure effective delivery of research and instruction services to the University community through the management and guidance of Research and Instruction Department and through communication and collaboration with other Library and University departments. The position is responsible for supervision of professional librarians, support staff, graduate assistants, and student assistants. The position manages the daily routines of the Research and Instruction Department, including library instruction, traditional and electronic reference assistance, and electronic information access. The position develops goals and objectives for the Department and participates in library-wide and departmental planning and assessment. The position reports to the Library Director.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate degree from a program accredited the the American Library Association or from a program in a country with a formal accreditation process as identified by ALA's Human Resource Development and Recruitment Office.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
A minimum of three years of progressively responsible supervisory experience within an academic library setting.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Evidence of professional service and/or research in the field of library science.
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Experience collaborating with diverse groups and library departments to promote student success.
Experience managing employees, preferably in a library setting.
