Master of Health Administration, Program Director

University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) – Galveston, Texas
UTMB opened in 1891 as the nation’s first public medical school and hospital under unified leadership. What began as one hospital and medical school building in Galveston is now a major academic health sciences center of global influence, with medical, nursing, health professions and graduate biomedical schools; a world-renowned research enterprise; and a growing, comprehensive health system with hospitals on four campuses and a network of clinics.

The UTMB School of Health Professions invites applications for a full-timeMaster of Health Administration (MHA) Program Director at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank. We seek an accomplished academic leader to refine, validate, and operationalize a foundational program proposal into a fully accredited, elite MHA program. This individual will lead the translation of existing business plans into an active academic infrastructure and drive the program through the CAHME candidacy and initial accreditation phases.

The MHA Program Director’s essential functions will include; Curriculum Validation and Operationalization, Accreditation Leadership, Network/Partnership Building, Policy and Infrastructure Development, Faculty Recruitment, Teaching and Scholarship Coursework, and Student Recruitment Support.

Educational Requirements & Experience
  • Doctoral degree (D.H.A., Ph.D., Dr.P.H., or equivalent) in health administration, public health, health policy, business administration, or a closely related field.
  • Master's degree in health administration, public health, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare administration or higher education management.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, launching, or significantly revising graduate-level curricula to align with programmatic accreditation standards (e.g., CAHME, CEPH, AACSB).
  • Direct experience participating in or leading a programmatic self-study, candidacy process, or major accreditation review.
  • Record of scholarly productivity and teaching effectiveness at the graduate level, commensurate with applied academic rank.
  • Deep operational knowledge of the US healthcare delivery system, health policy, and health informatics.
