Description
Rich in history, steeped in tradition, Hampton University is a dynamic, progressive institution of higher education, providing a broad range of technical , liberal arts , and graduate degree programs . In addition to being one of the top historically black universities in the world, Hampton University is a tightly knit community of learners and educators, representing 49 states and 35 territories and nations. The Department of Education within the School of Liberal Arts and Education, houses the Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies, Master of Teaching in Biology, Chemistry, English, Mathematics, and Music; Master of Arts in Educational Leadership, and the Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Management. We are seeking to fill an Assistant or Associate Professor level position in Education with a focus in Curriculum and Instruction, and knowledge and experience with CAEP accreditation.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be required to teach a variety of Education courses such as Curriculum and Instruction, Human Growth and Development, Methods in Teaching, Developmental and Diagnostic Reading, Classroom and Behavior Management, Current Issues in Education, Pedagogy, Methods, and other like courses. Additionally, successful candidates are expected to advise undergraduate, master's and doctoral level Education majors and hold office hours. The successful candidate is also expected to contribute to the scholarly advancement of the department through a productive research agenda that includes grantsmanship. Candidates should demonstrate dedication to the progress of the Education Department, the School of Liberal Arts and Education, and to the University as a whole, through service activities.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates must have an earned doctorate in Education with a focus in Elementary Education, Reading, or other Education related fields from an accredited university. Evidence of successful teaching and senior level experience in a university setting is also required. Ability to serve on doctoral dissertation committees, and to advise and mentor doctoral candidates is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated track record in research, accreditation, and grantsmanship. Rank and compensation are commensurate with credentials and experience.
