Job description

Estimator – Lumber, Engineered Wood, Windows, Doors, Trim
St. Charles, MO Area
A family-owned building supply company with a 40+ year reputation for excellence is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their team. With deep roots in residential construction and remodels, this company blends stability with entrepreneurial drive—valuing people, accuracy, and relationships over politics and red tape.

This is an opportunity to own the estimating process across multiple product lines, directly impacting sales success while enjoying predictable hours, strong leadership support, and a culture built on trust.
Does This Sound Like You?

  • Detail-oriented professional who finds satisfaction in accuracy and efficiency.

  • Collaborative team player who thrives in a family-style, people-first environment.

  • Problem-solver who enjoys translating blueprints into clear, actionable material lists.

The Experience We’d Love To See:

  • Proven experience generating takeoffs for lumber, engineered wood, windows, doors, and trim.

  • Ability to size beams/headers and run engineered wood product (EWP) software.

  • Familiarity with manufacturer estimating platforms (e.g., Quaker, Andersen, Therma-Tru, Masonite).

  • Proficiency in blueprint reading and construction materials estimating, ideally with MiTek SAPPHIRE or similar software.

What You’ll Get To Do:

  • Read and analyze residential construction plans to prepare full takeoffs.

  • Provide sales reps with accurate and timely estimates to drive profitable projects.

  • Own the estimating process across lumber, engineered wood, windows, doors, and trim.

  • Influence value engineering decisions that directly impact builders’ budgets and project success.

  • Maintain databases and pricing systems to streamline future estimates.

  • Collaborate with outside sales reps, offering technical expertise and support.

  • Enjoy autonomy in a role designed for impact—not micromanagement.

Why You Want This Job:

  • Manage complete estimates across multiple product lines.

  • Be the go-to technical expert with full ownership of the process.

  • Deliver estimates under time pressure and tight deadlines.

  • Gain respect and visibility as the sales team’s most trusted partner.

  • Work in a detail-intensive role where accuracy is critical.

  • Predictable hours, no travel, and strong work-life balance.

  • Adapt to evolving software and product requirements.

  • Build long-term career stability with a company known for loyalty.

This Position Offers:

  • Competitive base salary aligned to market rates and based on YOUR experience and compensation expectations.

  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and 401(k).

  • Predictable schedule (Mon–Fri, no weekends, no travel).

  • Family-first, supportive culture with strong leadership accessibility.

  • Paid community service day, employee recognition, and team-building events.

  • Opportunity to consolidate and lead the estimating function with clear ownership.

What Their Employees Say:

  • “Supportive management team that invests in training and development.” – Indeed Review

  • “Family-style culture where people genuinely care about each other.” – Glassdoor Review

  • “Good benefits, predictable hours, and a company that values loyalty.” – SimplyHired Review

What People Say About Them:
