Overview POSITION TITLE (Oracle title) MASTER CRAFTSMAN WORKING TITLE Master Craftsman-Electrical SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT Maintenance and Operations (M&O) LOCATION Rock Quarry Road (Building B), Raleigh, NC PAY GRADE Noncertified Grade 26 FLSA STATUS Nonexempt ELIGIBILITY FOR EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT No WORK WEEK SCHEDULE Monday-Friday (Evening and weekend requirements on a rotational basis) Position is not available for a Hybrid Telework workweek POSITION PURPOSE: Performs master craftsman and lead work associated with electrical systems, materials, equipment, and fixtures. Responds to assigned work orders relating to electrical systems; troubleshoots appropriate corrective measures and performs work to provide a solution. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs) Considerable knowledge of electrical systems, materials, equipment, and fixtures; Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel; Google Apps; Working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards; Critical thinking and problem solving skills; Ability to work independently and as part of a team and complete tasks in the absence of clear direction; Ability to perform arithmetic calculations; Ability to troubleshoot and perform maintenance and repairs on electrical systems; Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, contractors, vendors, and external agencies.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE High school diploma or equivalent; Five years of experience as an electrician or in a directly related field. CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS Hold a valid "Limited" License as determined by the North Carolina Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors; Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license according to the State of NC requirements; Within twelve months of employment complete safety training according to OSHA standards; Within twelve months of employment complete bucket truck operator certification. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Associates degree or technical school training in electrical systems; Experience operating and maintaining emergency generator systems; Experience operating infrared thermography equipment in a preventative maintenance process; Experience operating and maintaining elevators; Hold a valid Unlimited Electrical License as determined by the North Carolina Board of Electrical Examiners.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs experienced or master craftsman level work associated with electrical systems, materials, equipment, and fixtures. Responds to assigned work orders relating to electrical systems; troubleshoots appropriate corrective measures and performs work to provide a solution. Replaces faulty or defective electrical equipment and systems.

Prepares and maintains records, work logs, and reports, as needed. Adheres to laws, regulations and requirements set forth in the Wake County Public School System's (WCPSS) safety procedures/policies. Maintains compliance and adherence to all safety procedures, occupational health practices, and maintaining a safe work environment.

Performs other related duties, as assigned. WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This job operates in an indoor and environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, hand/power tools, etc.

The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, contractors, vendors and staff members of external agencies. Work is considered heavy physical work, requiring the exertion of up to 75 pounds of force. The work requires the ability to operate automotive equipment.

Frequent exposure to hazardous materials, gases, and chemicals, moving parts, and inclement weather conditions.
