Join our team as an Intake Assessment Clinician and become a crucial part of our welcoming community here at Ridgeview Institute Smyrna (RIS)! In this role, your compassionate nature will shine as you screen for medical and behavioral emergencies by completing a robust, comprehensive assessment, ensuring our patients receive the care they need. Working closely with our clinical team, you'll help determine the best treatment placement and provide support and reassurance to patients and their support systems to make their journey as smooth as possible.   • Receive inquiry calls and assist callers with scheduling face-to-face assessments or triage to the most appropriate community resource.
  • Screen for medical and behavioral emergency conditions through the completion of a comprehensive assessment to determine the most appropriate therapeutic level of care necessary to provide treatment for mental health, substance abuse, or dual diagnosis needs.
  • Coordinate with the on-call provider/clinical team to ensure the most appropriate placement either at the facility or through referral to community resources.
  • Work with the patient and support system throughout the assessment process to alleviate any concerns for care and treatment recommendations.
  • Complete admission paperwork following hospital policy.
  • Fulfill any administrative duties, as necessary, to ensure assessment and admission processes are thorough and complete.
  • Document and process inquiry calls in accordance with Intake policies.
  • Assess and stabilize patients before discharge or coordinate hospital admission arrangements.
  • Maintain an intake log documenting all necessary information.
  • Make follow-up calls to patients who fail to show up.

Your Experience Matters What we're looking for:
  • Education: A master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field is required. Must be licensed or license-eligible in the State of Georgia (e.g., LPC, LCPC, LSW, LCSW).
  • Experience: Preferably two or more years' experience in intake assessment activities within an acute psychiatric setting. A minimum of two (2) years' experience in a psychiatric hospital setting, including customer contact.
  • Licensure: Licensed to practice in the State of Georgia as a mental health professional.
  • Additional Requirements: A working knowledge of the latest DSM and Mental Status Exam. A working knowledge of the Addiction and Recovery field. Successful completion of CPR/ First Aid certification and CPI training within 90 days of employment prior to assisting with restraining procedures.

    • Proficient in using MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
