Description

Based at the Heartland Petrochemical Complex, the Master Scheduler will report to the Supervisor, Maintenance Control. The role is responsible for developing, integrating, and optimizing detailed schedules across maintenance, operations support, capital projects, and turnarounds at the site and will be an integral part of the event strategy including process systemization.

The Master Scheduler leads the scheduling function for planned turnaround events and plays a critical role in event strategy, execution planning, and process standardization. This role also provides mentorship and guidance to schedulers across Maintenance, Construction, and Turnarounds to ensure consistency, accuracy, and performance excellence.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

   Develop, maintain, and optimize daily, weekly, long-range, and turnaround schedules for maintenance and project activities.
   Integrate schedules across operations, maintenance, engineering, and project teams to ensure alignment and efficiency.
   Sequence work to minimize production impacts while maintaining safety and regulatory compliance.
   Identify schedule conflicts, resource constraints, and critical path impacts, and recommend mitigation strategies.
   Lead scheduling activities for outages and turnarounds, ensuring schedule quality, accuracy, and completeness.
   Facilitate schedule review meetings and communicate updates and changes to all stakeholders.
   Coordinate contractor and vendor timelines with internal resources, including resource loading and leveling.
   Perform schedule assurance checks, including coding standards and schedule integrity reviews.
   Maintain appropriate system security and access controls for scheduling tools and project files.
   Utilize and maintain schedules within Primavera P6, SAP PM, and Maximo systems.
   Track schedule performance, analyze variances, and report on KPIs such as schedule compliance, resource utilization, SPI, CPI, and backlog health.
   Lead continuous improvement initiatives related to scheduling processes, tools, and workflows.
   Ensure schedules incorporate all safety, permitting, LOTO, and regulatory requirements.
   Support compliance with Occupational Health & Safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
   Mentor and support schedulers across the organization to build capability and consistency.

Education, Skills and Experience

   Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Technology, Project Management, or a related field.
   10+ years of scheduling, planning, or coordination experience within petrochemical, refining, chemical manufacturing, or heavy industrial environments.
   Proven experience supporting or leading turnaround/shutdown scheduling activities.
   Strong understanding of maintenance workflows, asset management, and reliability practices.
   Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, work orders, and technical scope documents.
   Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 (preferred).
   Experience with CMMS systems such as SAP PM or Maximo.
   Strong analytical capability in schedule performance tracking and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications
   Turnaround or shutdown scheduling expertise.
   Knowledge of Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) principles.
   Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification.

Hours

Full-time, 9-hour shifts, every second Friday off
