Manufacturing | ERP | Item Master Data

Our client is seeking a Product Master Data Manager to own and safeguard the accuracy of product and item master data across our enterprise systems. This role is critical to ensuring manufacturing, supply chain, sales, and customers can operate without friction caused by inconsistent or unreliable data.

This is a hands‑on, operational role for someone who understands how product data flows through ERP and downstream systems — and how bad data quickly turns into bad decisions.

Why This Role Matters

When product master data is incorrect or inconsistent:

  • Manufacturing builds the wrong item
  • Supply chain orders incorrect materials
  • Marketing publishes inaccurate specifications
  • Sales and e‑commerce show conflicting information
  • Customers lose trust and returns increase

This role exists to prevent those problems before they happen.

What You’ll Do
  • Own the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of product and item master data across ERP, PIM, and catalog systems
  • Manage item setup, maintenance, and governance throughout the product lifecycle
  • Standardize attributes, units of measure (UOMs), identifiers, and hierarchies
  • Ensure clean data flow from suppliers → ERP → downstream systems (planning, reporting, sales, marketing)
  • Audit data for completeness and inconsistencies; proactively identify and correct issues
  • Track and report data quality KPIs using Excel and standard reporting tools
  • Partner closely with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, IT, Marketing, Sales, and suppliers
  • Translate business needs into clear data requirements (no coding required)
  • Influence data standards and adoption through collaboration rather than authority

What We’re Looking For
  • 3–5 years of experience managing product or item master data in a manufacturing or distribution environment
  • Hands‑on experience with:
    • ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar)
    • Item master data governance and data quality controls
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Attribute standardization
    • Units of measure (UOM)
    • Identifiers and product hierarchies
  • Experience working across multiple systems and understanding data dependencies
  • Advanced Excel and reporting skills for auditing and tracking data health
  • Comfortable collaborating cross‑functionally and leading through influence
  • Detail‑oriented, disciplined, and accountable for data accuracy
