Job Summary:
1872 Consulting is seeking a Senior Data Architect who will work directly with system architects and business owners to architect, design, and build data solutions. The role involves facilitating information management projects that align business and IT strategy, improving data governance, and providing guidance on multiple projects across various domains.
Responsibilities:
• Create and execute an enterprise data architecture strategy.
• Work directly with the application functional owners to understand their business needs and identify where information management solutions are viable. Documenting solutions from both a technical and business perspective is an important function of this role.
• Investigate and promote relevant and innovative technologies both independently and by management request. Formulate recommendations and implementation plans.
• Create policies, standards, and guidelines that guide the design of technology solutions.
• Research and stay up to date on technology trends and evolving partner ecosystem interactions relevant to areas of discipline.
• Provide clear thought leadership and input on key technology selection decisions (to be weighed against security, sustainability, user impact, etc.).
• Provide technical guidance to project teams as appropriate.
• Develop sound technical solutions to meet user requirements.
• Ensure Sidley staff stays current with technical skills for all technical track employees (developers, architects, etc.).
• Design implementation strategies for new and/or alternate technologies that will further business goals and provide competitive advantages.
• Provide leadership to bootstrap new digital products, manage vendor relationships, or lead prototype technology efforts.
• May be required to perform other duties or special projects as required.
Qualifications:
Required:
• 7+ years of experience designing, building, and implementing data-centric IT transformation projects, such as Data Management, Data Warehouse, and Data Governance solutions across one or more industries.
• Understanding of public cloud offerings and how-to solution designs that are built around these technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or similar.)
• Ability to conduct data profiling, cataloging, and mapping for technical design and construction of data models and data flows.
• Experience analyzing current business practices, processes, and procedures as well as identifying future business opportunities for leveraging enterprise platforms for data, analytics and reporting.
• Ability to create logical and physical data models for various master data domains
• Previous experience in software evaluation, integration, testing and distribution.
• Previous experience breaking down business processes into technology requirements.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Applications.
• Visio architecture diagramming skills and PowerPoint presentation skills.
Preferred:
• Experience in delivering cloud-based IT transformation projects
• Experience as a database administrator, data integration developer, data engineer, or data analytics developer
• Hands on experience managing with two or more data management domains (data quality, data integration, master data management, data preparation and/or analytics) utilizing cloud, hybrid, or on-premises data management platforms.
