Drive enterprise-wide customer data excellence and governance as the strategic owner of our critical business assets. We're seeking an exceptional leader to transform of how our organization manages, governs, and realizes value from customer data across all business functions. This role combines deep business acumen with technical expertise to ensure our customer data serves as a competitive advantage while meeting the highest standards of quality, security, and compliance.

You'll be the subject matter expert and change agent for the customer data domains, hierarchies & relationships, legal names, tax information, segmentation, and master data management. Working at the intersection of business strategy and data governance, you'll challenge existing processes, influence organizational direction, and establish the standards that enable data-driven decision making across our global operations.

WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:

Customer Data Domain Leadership

  • Champion, Own, and Govern the complete customer data domain including hierarchies, entity structures, segmentation, and relationship mapping across all enterprise systems, enable data as a product

  • Establish enterprise-wide customer data standards and drive continuous improvement in data quality, accessibility, and business value through proactive issue resolution

  • Apply systems thinking to understand and optimize the end-to-end flow of data across platforms, domains, and business processes

  • Lead cross-functional project & governance initiatives as the primary authority for customer data decisions, policy development, and strategic direction

Master Data Management Excellence

  • Collaborate with MDM teams to define golden customer records, data quality rules, survivorship logic, and system integrations

  • Manage customer data enhancement backlog including quality improvements, process optimizations, and integration requirements

  • Coordinate with Data Stewards on customer onboarding and validation processes, business definitions, lineage documentation, and system mappings

Data Quality & Analytics

  • Establish comprehensive data quality standards and monitor KPIs for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and timeliness

  • Conduct SQL-based analysis and own RCA for data quality issues, validate business rules, and support data-driven decision making

  • Maintain enterprise data catalog ensuring customer data definitions, lineage, and security classifications remain current

Business Partnership & Communication

  • Serve as primary liaison between business segments, sales, marketing, privacy, legal, and technical teams for all customer data requirements and regulatory compliance

  • Partner with stakeholders on change management for customer data processes supporting digital transformation initiatives

  • Communicate standards and issues to stakeholders through regular reporting and governance council participation

  • Review business requirements and coordinate user training to ensure alignment with GDPR, privacy regulations, and industry standards

Risk Management & Compliance

  • Ensure customer data practices comply with all applicable privacy laws, financial regulations, and industry standards

  • Manage data security classifications and access controls while leading incident response for quality issues, breaches, or compliance violations

  • Maintain comprehensive audit trails and documentation supporting regulatory compliance and internal governance requirements

YOU HAVE:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in data management, business analysis, or related roles with increasing responsibility

  • 5+ years of direct experience with customer data, master data management, or data governance in enterprise environments

  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional initiatives and driving organizational change

Technical Expertise

  • Advanced SQL proficiency for data analysis and quality validation

  • Experience with Master Data Management platforms such as Informatica MDM or similar enterprise solutions

  • Proficiency with data governance tools including data catalogs, lineage tools, and quality management platforms

  • Understanding of cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, AWS, Azure) and database systems with ability to work effectively with technical teams

Business & Leadership Skills

  • Deep customer data domain expertise including B2B hierarchies, legal entities, tax structures, and segmentation strategies

  • Exceptional communication abilities to translate technical concepts for business stakeholders and influence cross-functional teams

  • Proven change management and collaboration skills with experience driving data governance initiatives across business units

  • Strong analytical problem-solving with track record of data-driven decision making and strategic recommendations

Domain Knowledge

  • Manufacturing or B2B industry experience with complex customer relationships, supply chain partnerships, and regulatory compliance

  • ERP systems knowledge (SAP, Oracle, Infor) and customer master data integration processes

  • Regulatory compliance familiarity including privacy laws, financial regulations, and industry-specific data requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Data Management, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field

  • Professional certifications from the Data Management Institute (DAMA), Certified Data Management Professionals (CDMP), Data Governance & Stewardship Processional (DGSP), or equivalent data governance/privacy credentials

  • Technology certifications in Informatica, Snowflake, or major ERP platforms

Pay Transparency
nVent's pay scale is based on the expected range of base pay for this job and the employee's work location. Employee pay within this range will be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, education, and performance. Where federal, state, or local minimum wage requirements exist, employee pay will comply.
Compensation Range:

$123,500.00 - $229,500.00

Depending on the position offered, employee may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as annual incentives.
