Introduction

Maryland Public Television, commonly known as MPT, is a public television network that broadcasts throughout the entire state of Maryland and the District of Columbia and into parts of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. MPT is Maryland's only statewide broadcaster. Headquartered in Owings Mills, MPT is a member of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and is a producer of both locally and nationally distributed TV programs and digital content.\r\n

Main Purpose of Job

This contractual position will support the Production Operations department with duties that range the full gamut of production to the final product. The position will ensure that programs maintain a high standard of technical excellence. The master control technician utilizes prompters, Gaffer (Levels 1, 2, and 3), Grip (Levels 1, 2, and 3), act as Floor Director, Character Generator, including Senior Character Generator, Studio Camera Operators, Videographers, Remote Camera Operators, Audio technicians, Production Director, Production Lighting Director, Production Engineer-in-Charge and/or Editor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.\r\nProduction Specialist I Experience:\r\nTwo (2) year of experience in the television industry or aBachelor's degree from an accredited college or universityin Media, Communications, Journalism, or related discipline for the required experience.\r\n\r\n\r\n

BENEFITS

\r\n\r\nContractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.\r\nLeave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.\r\n\r\n\r\n
