This is a part-time position with various shifts days and evenings and requires weekend availability. This position is eligible for discounted downtown parking, free employee meals, DailyPay, hotel and restaurant discounts and more.
SUMMARY
Responsible for setting up all necessary items for a meal function, servicing guests and clearing room when the event is completed. Since all the attending people are like a team and should function as one, the skills of each banquet server are important and by helping and supporting one another, the staff successfully contributes in creating a memorable event for the guests. In so doing, is expected to direct all efforts toward guest satisfaction, the achievement/maintenance of division standards and profit maximization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
o Upon reporting to work, receives room function assignments from Banquet Captain
o Have common knowledge of menu and food allergens.
o Set up dining table according to meal function
o Creatively designs set up of beverage and food buffets
o Ensure table place-settings, including table linen, china, glass, silverware and condiments for correct placement to ensure that each element is clean, undamaged and attractive.
o Knowledgeable of proper service etiquette
o Needs to be attentive to the guests but not to appear intrusive, should try and succeed to make them feel at ease and should create comfortable serving atmosphere
o Engage guest and ensure satisfaction of service
o Responsible for handling, storage, and security of all catering service equipment.
o Notifies the Banquet Captain of any shortages in regards to equipment.
o Handles all guest requests, as necessary; requests the assistance of Banquet Captain as necessary.
o Making sure that function rooms, hallways and storage areas are clean, and the equipment is cleaned and stored properly after each shift.
o Responsible for the cleanliness of banquet cage, cooler and back storage.
o Informs Banquet Captain of any needed repairs
o Searches and recommends new products and methods of operation to Banquet Captain
o Responsible for providing necessary immediate attention to any guest or associate accident victim, and notifying Captain or Security team if necessary.
o Ensures that energy conservation (Turning off lights in an empty room) and loss prevention guidelines are followed
o Properly and accurately performs any special assignments made by the Banquet Captain.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Strong multitasking skills to manage multiple tables and guest requests simultaneously.
- Capable of standing, walking, and carrying trays for extended periods.
- Physical strength to lift and carry heavy trays, chafing dishes, and setup materials as required.
- Flexible and able to adapt to last-minute changes in seating, menu, or service requests.
- Works well in a team environment, assisting colleagues and coordinating with other departments, like kitchen staff, to ensure smooth service.
- Familiarity with proper etiquette and serving protocols for upscale events, including formal dining and buffet-style setups.
- Keen eye for table settings, ensuring accuracy and neatness in every setup.
- Ability to quickly address issues like spills, rearrange settings, and maintain a clean dining environment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED;
- Server experience and/or training
