How do married couples working together in a professional setting manage potential conflicts of interest and maintain a healthy work-life balance?

Married couples who work together professionally often establish clear boundaries between their personal and professional lives to avoid conflicts of interest. Many organizations have policies in place regarding reporting structures and confidentiality to ensure fairness and transparency. Successful couples communicate openly, respect each other’s roles, and agree on strategies to separate work discussions from home life. Regular check-ins and seeking support from HR or supervisors can also help maintain a positive work environment and a healthy relationship.

Job description

Dive into an Adventure as a Family Teacher Couple at Indiana United Methodist Children's Home!

Are you and your spouse ready to embark on an exhilarating journey to transform young lives with love, laughter, and a whole lot of heart? At Indiana United Methodist Children's Home, we’re on the hunt for a dynamic Family Teacher Couple to create a vibrant, family-style haven for our youth. Guided by the Teaching Family Model Standards and Code of Ethics, plus Indiana’s licensing rules, you’ll be the superheroes who inspire kids to soar with social, academic, and life skills that spark positive change!

Why This Role Rocks!

As a Family Teacher Couple, you’ll dive into a whirlwind of meaningful moments, making a difference by:

  • Shaping Bright Futures: Be the masterminds behind each youth’s journey, from setting epic treatment goals to cheering them on toward a triumphant discharge. You’ll team up with Assistant Family Teachers, therapists, parents, and more under the guidance of our awesome Director of Residential Services.
  • Building Epic Connections: Keep the communication flowing with parents, caseworkers, and teachers, creating a tight-knit support squad that’s all about the kids’ success.
  • Running a Super Cool Household: Plan fun activities, whip up tasty menus, and manage the home’s budget like pros. You’ll keep the house buzzing with energy while tracking every penny (and saving those receipts!).
  • Empowering with Positivity: Create a “no restraint” vibe by mastering verbal de-escalation tricks and crafting personalized behavior plans that help kids shine without needing physical intervention.
  • Teaching Life-Changing Skills: Guide youth to rock social skills, personal hygiene (think sparkling smiles and snazzy outfits), and household chores like meal prep and room tidying, setting them up for independence.
  • Spreading Good Vibes: Build warm, supportive relationships with a smile and a kind word, making the home a safe and happy place for every kid.
  • Planning Fun-Filled Days: Design a daily routine packed with school, community events, and cool extracurriculars that match each youth’s needs. You might even play chauffeur to school, appointments, or exciting outings!
  • Being Community Champions: Connect with caseworkers, teachers, and probation officers to pave the way for each youth’s bright future, all while rocking the Teaching Family Model (with a goal of certification in two years!).
  • Serving Up Healthy Eats: Plan delicious, nutritious menus and shop smart to keep the kitchen stocked with goodies.
  • Keeping Things Safe and Sound: Administer meds with care, keep spot-on records, and ensure the home and agency vehicles are in tip-top shape.  Stay on top of weekly supply and non-prescription med orders to keep the house running like a well-oiled machine. Handle fire drills, safety checks, and clothing inventories with flair, keeping everything organized and up to code. Keep the group home sparkling clean and welcoming, per our policies.

Extra Awesome Benefits!

  • $125,000 combined salary as a couple!
  • 1200 sq. ft home provided - utilities included.
  • Medical, dental, vision, life insurance available (dental and vision-agency covered for employees)
  • Generous 403b retirement plan - with 8% matching!

This is a full-time adventure with a flexible schedule, including some weekend fun, to keep the youth’s world steady and exciting.

We are looking for couples that will pour their hearts into as many hours as needed to make the home a place where kids thrive.

Why You’ll Love It Here

At Indiana United Methodist Children's Home, you’ll join a passionate crew dedicated to sparking spiritual growth and creating life-changing moments for youth. As a Family Teacher Couple, you’ll be the heartbeat of a home where kids discover their potential, build confidence, and chase their dreams—all while having a blast!

Ready for the adventure of a lifetime? Apply now and bring your energy, love, and teamwork to Indiana United Methodist Children's Home!

Note: This job description is just the start—duties may shift to keep the fun and impact going strong!

What You Bring to the Party

  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is all you need; a college degree is a bonus but not a must.
  • Experience: Be at least 21, legally married for at least a year, and ready to bring your A-game.
  • Skills: Rock-solid communication, a knack for staying fair and confidential, and basic computer skills (think Microsoft Word) to nail documentation.
  • Vibes: Assertive, flexible, team-oriented, and punctual, with a passion for working with awesome (and sometimes challenging) youth.
  • Training: Jump into our Nonviolent Crisis Prevention (CPI), Teaching Family Model, and CPR/First Aid training with enthusiasm, and aim for Teaching Family Model certification.
  • Driving: Have a valid driver’s license and be insurable to drive around in our agency vehicles.
  • Heart: Bring sensitivity and awareness to the diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds of our youth.
